The Baptism of Fire: Not Just Symbolic
🔥 The Baptism of Fire: Not Just Symbolic
I used to think baptism was mostly about water.
You get dunked, you feel clean, you move on.
But there’s another baptism the scriptures talk about—one that doesn’t happen in a font, or under a steeple, or on the Church calendar.
It happens in fire. And it’s real.
🟣 I learned this the hard way. Or maybe the holy way.
It wasn’t in a classroom. It was when I was wrestling. Searching. Studying the Book of Mormon on my mission—coloring the words that mattered most.
I still remember:
Purple for the Atonement
Blue for obedience
Red for the warnings
Green for the promises
The Book came alive. And so did something in me.
One night, I felt the fire—not in my head, but in my soul.
I was alone. But I wasn’t alone.
I didn’t see angels. But I saw truth.
And from that night forward, the scriptures were no longer just words.
They were living water. And holy fire.
🕊️ What the Book of Mormon Actually Says
“Then cometh a remission of your sins by fire and by the Holy Ghost.”
—2 Nephi 31:17
“And now behold… they were filled as if with fire, and they could speak forth marvelous words.”
—Helaman 5:45
“The Holy Ghost… did enter into their hearts.”
—3 Nephi 9:20
No bishop gave it to them.
No interview approved it.
No ordinance scheduled it.
Christ gave it Himself.
🌾 What the Nemenhah Helped Me Remember
The Nemenhah say it plain:
“The Peacemaker baptizeth not only in water, but also in the Spirit and in fire. This baptism cometh when the heart is pierced, and the whole being is changed.”
—Book of Tsihohnayah
We don’t talk about that enough in Sunday School.
But I believe that moment—the baptism of fire—is the very beginning of real conversion.
Not when you join a church.
But when Christ joins you.
⚠️ Why Most People Miss It
Because it’s not loud.
It’s not scheduled.
It can’t be copied or sold.
It happens when you truly repent and turn to Him with your whole soul. When you fall at His feet, and He lifts you with burning love.
The Spirit cleanses you from the inside out.
Your sins are gone.
And your heart burns with a fire you’ll never forget.
💬 My Invitation to You
If you haven’t experienced it—ask for it.
Ask Christ Himself. He’s the one who gives it.
Don’t settle for outward ordinances without inward fire.
Don’t be content with the form if you’re missing the flame.
“Ye must be born again.”
Not someday. Not maybe.
But now.
🔥 Final Thought
I used to think fire was scary.
Now I know—it’s holy.
Let the Lord set your soul on fire.
Let Him purify what no bishop can.
And let that be the start of everything.
🕊️ Be Holy, Godfrey. Be Healed. Be Whole.
