๐ Grace for Grace — Walking Into the Presence of Christ --- D&C 93
๐ Grace for Grace — Walking Into the Presence of Christ
When I first read Doctrine and Covenants 93, I felt like God was whispering a secret right into my ear — the kind of secret that makes you want to drop everything and run straight into His arms.
The very first verse is a promise, clear as sunlight breaking through clouds:
“Every soul who forsaketh his sins and cometh unto me, and calleth on my name, and obeyeth my voice, and keepeth my commandments, shall see my face and know that I am.” (D&C 93:1)
Not just prophets. Not just apostles. Every soul.
That’s the Second Comforter — the promise that if we will truly listen and act on His personal voice to us, we will see Him.
๐ The Pattern of Grace for Grace
D&C 93 tells us Jesus Himself “received not of the fulness at the first” but grew grace for grace until He received a fulness. If even the Savior followed this covenant path — how much more must we?
The Book of Mormon echoes this:
“For we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.” (2 Nephi 25:23)
But notice — it isn’t “after all we can do” in the sense of exhausting ourselves. It’s receiving light, step by step, grace by grace.
The Nemenhah Records say the same:
“For the Peacemaker cometh unto all people, even in the flesh, line upon line, until the light prevaileth and they are quickened in His presence.” (Book of Tsihohnayah Ahkehkthihm 13:42, )
It’s not one giant leap into heaven. It’s the daily walk. The daily “yes.”
๐️ The Real Commandments
We tend to think “commandments” mean the big Ten or the list recited from pulpits. But D&C 93 cracks open the real meaning:
“He that keepeth his commandments receiveth truth and light, until he is glorified in truth and knoweth all things.” (v. 28)
Commandments here are every word He speaks to you by His Spirit. Personal revelation.
The Book of Mormon taught it long ago:
“Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.” (2 Nephi 32:3)
The Nemenhah add:
“Therefore, if ye will hearken unto that small voice, ye shall walk straightway unto the place wherein the Peacemaker revealeth Himself.” (Book of Mahnti 8:21, )
That’s the map. Hear Him. Follow Him. Keep going.
๐จ๐ฉ๐ง๐ฆ Order in the House
One part of D&C 93 that hits home: the Lord rebuked Joseph Smith, Sidney Rigdon, and Frederick G. Williams not for lack of missionary zeal, but because their houses weren’t in order.
That stings a little.
The Nemenhah prophets warned the same:
“The people did set in order their families before they set their hands to build the refuge. For if there be no peace in the house, how shall the city be built?” (Tsihohnayah Ahkehkthihm 14:53, )
The pattern is clear: before Zion is built out there, it has to be built in here — in our homes, marriages, and children.
๐ What This All Means
D&C 93 isn’t just theology. It’s a love letter.
The Lord is telling us:
You can see my face.
You can receive grace for grace.
You are my friend, not just my servant.
Get your house in order, and I will come.
This matches the Book of Mormon. It matches the Nemenhah Records. It matches the Spirit’s whisper when you kneel to pray.
So maybe the best response is the simplest:
Forsake sin.
Hear Him.
Obey the whisper.
Keep going grace for grace.
And one day, the promise will unfold before your very eyes.
