π Is the Great Chief Joseph the Davidic Servant?
π Is the Great Chief Joseph the Davidic Servant?
In 2 Nephi 3, Joseph of Egypt speaks across millennia to his posterity — foretelling a choice seer who would rise from his lineage in the latter days.
For most of my life, I was told this meant Joseph Smith and Joseph Smith alone.
But the prophecy is richer, wider, and still unfolding.
π The Prophecy in 2 Nephi 3
Joseph of Egypt foresaw:
A righteous branch preserved for the latter days, separated from the rest of Israel.
A choice seer, mighty like Moses, who would bring his people to the knowledge of their fathers.
This seer would work in the spirit of Moses and Aaron, with priestly and kingly authority.
His work would bless both the seed of Joseph and all Israel.
Many of these blessings have yet to be fulfilled in their fullness.
Joseph Smith began a work — but the prophecy speaks of a leader from among the remnant, not from Gentile stock.
πͺΆ A Lamanite Chief in Our Day?
I believe one such leader may already be living — a Great Chief Joseph, a pure-blood descendant of Joseph of Egypt through the Lamanite line.
If so, he is not hidden in the pages of history but walks the earth today… likely somewhere in Mexico.
Why Mexico? Because prophecy places much of the remnant’s latter-day gathering among the seed of Lehi in the lands of their inheritance. From there, a chief could rise who knows his people, speaks their tongue, and carries their bloodline unbroken from the fathers.
π The Davidic Servant Connection
The video teaching we’re comparing here describes the Davidic Servant — a mortal leader under Christ’s authority who:
Gathers Israel physically and spiritually.
Builds a literal temple and establishes an earthly kingdom.
Works alongside John the Revelator in the last days.
Sets the house of God in order as the “one mighty and strong” (D&C 85).
If we place these descriptions alongside 2 Nephi 3, they match the Great Chief Joseph role almost perfectly:
both are mortal, both lead in priestly and kingly authority, both serve the remnant first, and both prepare the way for Christ.
π The Nemenhah Witness
The Nemenhah Records speak repeatedly of a Chief from among the remnant who will rise:
“From among them shall come one, pure in heart and of the loins of Joseph, who shall call the scattered to the gathering. He shall walk in the way of the Peacemaker and all nations shall know of him.”
They describe him as pure in lineage, mighty in wisdom, and appointed to lead the people into the Refuge (Tsiahn)— a place of safety and covenant in the last days.
They also show him working in harmony with translated beings and ancient prophets who return to finish their work.
✨ Could They Be the Same Man?
When we line them up, the profiles merge:
2 Nephi 3’s Choice Seer
Isaiah’s Davidic Servant
D&C 85’s One Mighty and Strong
Nemenhah’s Great Chief of the Remnant
It is entirely possible — even likely — that these titles point to the same servant of God.
A man raised from among the remnant, commissioned by Christ, empowered by the Holy Ghost, and recognized by the faithful as the Lord’s anointed in the last days.
π What This Means for Us
Prophecy isn’t given to make us spectators. It’s given to prepare us for recognition.
When such a man arises — and I believe he will — the Gentiles and the remnant alike will be tested.
Will we recognize the Lord’s servant when he does not fit our cultural expectations?
Will we hear the voice of the Shepherd in the mouth of His messenger?
Will we be willing to leave comfort behind to follow the gathering call?
πΏ Watch and Be Ready
If the Great Chief Joseph is alive today, somewhere in Mexico, his time of public work will come at the appointed hour.
Until then, our calling is the same:
Pray daily for discernment and readiness.
Search the prophecies — Isaiah, 2 Nephi 3, the Nemenhah Records — until their patterns are familiar to our souls.
Listen for the Spirit’s seal upon all true messengers.
The restoration is not finished.
And when this servant comes, he will not be starting something new — he will be finishing what began long ago.

"This is a direct prophecy of Isaiah regarding the two Servants that were spoken by John in Revelation 11, who will fight against the oppressors of Israel in the coming battle of Armageddon. These men will include the Davidic Servant, and the Lamanite Prophet. Both will be destroyed in the streets of Jerusalem by an explosive weapon. The enemies will celebrate for three days followed by the two prophets miraculous resurrection."
