πŸŒͺ️ Less Than the Dust — Why We Don’t Listen

πŸŒͺ️ Less Than the Dust — Why We Don’t Listen

The Book of Mormon doesn’t mince words:

πŸ“– “O how great is the nothingness of the children of men; yea, even they are less than the dust of the earth.” (Helaman 12:7)

That stings. But it’s true.

And why? Because the dust obeys. The mountains obey. The seas obey. Even the storm listens when the Savior says, “Peace, be still.” Creation itself responds instantly to His voice.

But mankind? We plug our ears. We say, “All is well.” We live as if Christ’s whisper doesn’t matter.

🌎 Dust vs. Humanity

Think about it. The earth carries out its course without complaint. The sun rises. The trees leaf and shed. Rivers carve valleys. Seasons shift. All obey His command.

But we — the ones created in His very image — resist. We rationalize. We delay. We drown out the still small voice with noise, schedules, and “good intentions.”

The Nemenhah Records echo this exact truth:

πŸ“– “All things are quick to obey the voice of the Peacemaker, save only the children of men. For the mountains move when He commands, and the seas roll back when He whispers. But when He speaks to the people, they harden their hearts and will not hear.” (Nemenhah)

Dust obeys. Rivers obey. Birds obey.
But we — the crown of His creation — so often refuse.

πŸ”₯ Grace for Grace

Doctrine and Covenants 93 lays down the pattern:

πŸ“– “It shall come to pass that every soul who forsaketh his sins and cometh unto me… and obeyeth my voice… shall see my face and know that I am.”

That is the promise. But it hinges on this: Obey His voice.

Even Jesus, the Beloved Son, had to grow grace for grace, light to light. He had to learn to listen to His Father. Born into a feeding trough, wrapped in swaddling clothes, dependent on His mother to change His diapers — the King of Kings humbled Himself and obeyed in all things.

And we think we’re too busy to stop and pray? Too self-sufficient to kneel and weep? Too content to repent?

🚨 Repent, Repent, Repent

Helaman saw it. The Nemenhah saw it. And it’s staring us in the face today.

We are too content. Too numbed. Too proud. We nod at the scriptures, but do we hear them?

This isn’t the season to say “all is well.” All is not well.
This is the season to repent. To cry out. To tune in to the daily whisperings of the Savior.

If even dust and wind can listen, why can’t we?

πŸ‘‚ Coming September 1st

Starting September 1, I’ll begin a new series: a simple family story. Not fiction, not theory — but an example of how one household came to Christ by learning to listen. Day by day. Light by light. Voice by voice.

It will show us — in plainness — that the way back to Him isn’t complicated. It’s not found in robes or programs. It’s in hearing the whisper and choosing to obey.

✝️ Brothers and sisters, let’s get real. Let’s stop excusing. Stop coasting. Stop resisting.

Repent. Listen. Obey.
And rise above the dust.
