๐ŸŒŸ Why Miracles Have Ceased — and How They Will Return

๐ŸŒŸ Why Miracles Have Ceased — and How They Will Return

I’ve often wondered… why do we hear of so many miracles in the scriptures, but in our own day they feel so rare? ๐Ÿค”

The Book of Mormon — and the Nemenhah Records — give us the same answer. And it’s not that God has changed. It’s that we have.

๐Ÿ“– The Blueprint in Fourth Nephi

In Fourth Nephi, two societies are laid side by side:

✨ The Righteous Society — They were one in Christ. No divisions. No rich or poor. They had all things in common. They healed, they loved, and miracles abounded.

๐Ÿ’” The Unrighteous Society — They became proud. They loved money more than people. They divided by race and class. They built churches for gain. And in this world… miracles ceased.

It wasn’t about God deciding to withhold His hand. It was about the people creating an environment where His power could no longer flow.

๐Ÿ“œ The Nemenhah Records Agree

The Nemenhah prophets tell the same story:

  • Mohrhohnahyah (Moroni) warned that when people fall into pride and war, the Spirit withdraws and “miracles do cease from among them, for faith is fled” (Mohrhohnahyah 4:6–7 ).

  • Tsihohnayah Ahkehkthihm prophesied that the foreign church would “fall into many divisions,” and only a remnant of the humble would once again see the gifts of God restored (Ch. 14:50–53).

Both records testify that miracles rise and fall not because God changes, but because societies turn away from His laws of unity, peace, and consecration.

⚖️ Righteousness Beyond Personal Piety

We sometimes think of righteousness as just personal rule-keeping. But in both records, righteousness is defined broadly: justice, equality, and unity.

  • “And they had all things common among them; therefore there were not rich and poor, bond and free.” (4 Nephi 1:3)

  • “The Lord delights not in one above another, but in them who are equal, for such is Zion.” (Tsihohnayah Ahkehkthihm 13:22 )

True righteousness means creating a society where love governs instead of pride.

๐Ÿ™Œ Faith as Action

Faith is not just “believing God can.” Faith is living Christ’s teachings in such a way that miracles become natural.

The Nemenhah call this walking in the Way of the Peacemaker — building councils, homes, and communities on the principles of equality and stewardship. When we live this way, miracles follow. They are the fruit of a Christ-centered culture.

๐ŸŒ Miracles Are Collective

Here’s the hard part: miracles are not just about me. They are about us.

Even the innocent in both records suffered when the society around them had fallen. That may not feel fair, but it shows how much our environment matters.

When pride and inequality choke a nation, the miracles of heaven are cut off. When love and unity govern, heaven opens.

๐Ÿ”ฎ A Prophetic Promise

Both the Book of Mormon and the Nemenhah look forward with hope:

  • “Whoso shall repent and come unto me, the same is my church… and signs shall follow them that believe.”(Mormon 9:24)

  • “I will raise up again a small flock… and in them shall the gifts return, and they shall be an ensign to the nations.”(Mohrhohnahyah 8:19–20)

The promise is sure: Zion will again be a place of miracles. The power of God will return when we, as a people, turn back to Christ and build His society of justice, equality, and love.

✨ Bottom Line

God is still a God of miracles. ๐ŸŒŸ
He hasn’t changed. We have.

And that means miracles are not lost forever. They are waiting — waiting for a people who will repent, unite, and live the law of Christ together.

When Zion is built, the miracles will return. ๐Ÿ•Š️๐Ÿ”ฅ
