๐ŸŒพ Out of Babylon, Into Consecration

๐ŸŒพ Out of Babylon, Into Consecration

Reflections on The Book of Hayihnmeht, Chapter One

๐Ÿง‘‍๐Ÿ’ผ A Young Record-Keeper Speaks
Seventeen years old. That’s all Hayihnmeht was when he picked up his mother’s staff and started writing. He admits right up front — he’s young, inexperienced, hasn’t traveled much, hasn’t talked with the wise of the world. But the Spirit pressed him: “Write anyway.”

That resonates with me. Sometimes the Lord calls us to testify before we feel ready. The important thing is not the polish of our words, but that the Haymehnay (Holy Ghost) moves us to speak.

๐Ÿ•Š️ Six Generations of Peace
Hayihnmeht reminds us it had been six generations since the Peacemaker visited Mayntinah, and still they lived in continual peace. No wars. No bloodshed. Why? Because they built their society on Four Pillars:

  • Knowledge ๐Ÿ“š

  • Sacrifice ๐Ÿ”ฅ

  • Virtue ๐Ÿ’Ž

  • Consecration ๐ŸŒพ

Above all, he says, Consecration was the key.

“No man fattened himself while his neighbor starved. And if there were fine things, it was because all had them together” (Hayihnmeht 1).

That’s Zion in action. It echoes the Book of Mormon:

“They had all things common among them; therefore there were not rich and poor, bond and free, but they were all made free” (4 Nephi 1:3).

⚠️ The Restoration & the Condemnation
Hayihnmeht foresaw the Restoration — and also the rejection:

“Before one generation had passed, the people would turn away, and a condemnation would rest upon them until the sixth generation” (Hayihnmeht 1).

Joseph Smith said the same:

“And your minds in times past have been darkened, because of unbelief, and because you have treated lightly the things you have received… under this condemnation until they repent” (D&C 84:54–57).

๐ŸŒ The Center of the Chiasm
At the heart of Hayihnmeht’s record is this vision:

  • Cast down towers ๐Ÿฐ

  • Stop puffing up with pride

  • Share with your neighbor

  • Turn the hearts of children and fathers ๐Ÿ’ž

  • Watch heaven and earth pour out blessings

That is consecration. That is Zion.

๐ŸŒ„ Hope at the End

“Read not these words and look back longing, but read them and look ahead. Repent and have hope! Else all is lost to you” (Hayihnmeht 1).

✍️ My Reflection
Zion will not be built by waiting for permission or collecting gold. It is built when families consecrate together, neighbors share, and hearts turn. That is how we come out of Babylon.
