Salvation
📝 Their Message (Summary)
A simple revelation breaks through: “I know that Jesus Christ saves me.” Not “saves mankind,” not “saves us in general,” but saves me.
The temple, then, is seen as preparatory—a beautifully wrapped gift. But the wrapping is not the gift. Too often, we admire the packaging without unwrapping what it contains: the reality of salvation and intimacy with Christ Himself.
D&C 88 warns that if we will not receive the true gift, we will only receive what we were willing to take. Many settle for the outward forms of ordinances, missing the inner power they point toward. Everything in the temple symbolizes how to overcome spiritual death—the separation from God’s presence—and to walk back into His presence in this life (Alma 34:32, D&C 93:1).
The difference between carnal and spiritual understanding is clear:
The carnal man sees the temple literally, clings to the building, and trusts in outward performances.
The spiritual man recognizes himself as the temple of God (1 Corinthians 3:16), sees ordinances as symbols pointing to Christ, and enters into relationship with Him directly.
The carnal lives in fear, always worried about “enough.” The spiritual lives in faith, knowing peace comes from Christ alone.
Ultimately, salvation is not a checklist of ordinances, not loyalty to an institution, not even temple attendance. Salvation is Jesus. To miss Him is to miss the gift. To receive Him is to receive everything.
🔥 My Reflection
This post cuts through layers of religious habit. I’ve asked myself: have I opened the gift—or have I spent my life polishing the wrapping paper?
The call here is both sobering and freeing: salvation is not later, not theoretical, not earned by activity. It is now. It is Him. Jesus Christ saves me.
That truth alone restores joy.
🕊️ The Invitation
Pause and pray:
“Lord, have I been clinging to the wrapping paper and missing You? I want the gift. I want You. Open my eyes to what You are really offering me.”
Then listen. Let Him reveal Himself to you. Salvation is not a future reward—it is a present relationship.
