🚢 Way-Walking: The Path Back Into His Presence

The scriptures are full of one little word that changes everything: the Way.
It’s more than a direction. It’s the path back into His presence — the road the prophets, apostles, and the humble of every age have walked.

The old tribes called it way-walking. The Restoration calls it receiving the Second Comforter. The scriptures just call it the Way.

πŸ“œ The Way in Scripture

From cover to cover, God tells His people to walk in the Way.

Book of Mormon

  • “Come unto Christ, and be perfected in him, and deny yourselves of all ungodliness… that ye may walk blameless before God” (Moroni 10:32).

  • “O then, my beloved brethren, come unto the Lord, the Holy One… and walk after the holy order of God” (2 Nephi 31:15).

  • “And now, behold, this is the way; and there is none other way nor name given under heaven whereby man can be saved” (2 Nephi 31:21).

Bible

  • “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6).

  • “And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it” (Isaiah 30:21).

  • “Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD” (Psalm 119:1).

Doctrine & Covenants

  • “And he that receiveth my commandments and keepeth them, he that receiveth my servants, receiveth me… and will I manifest myself unto him” (D&C 93:1).

  • “That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light… until the perfect day” (D&C 50:24).

πŸŒ„ The Second Comforter Connection

The old Nephite prophets would have called it walking in the Way; Joseph Smith called it receiving the Second Comforter — the personal presence of the Savior Himself.

From How to Have Your Second Comforter, the steps are always the same:

  1. Faith in Christ

  2. Repentance (real turning, not just regret)

  3. Baptism of water and of fire

  4. Hearing His voice daily

  5. Coming into His presence

Walking in the Way is walking toward that moment when He manifests Himself to you.

🌿 The Adam and Eve Pattern

Back in Eden, Adam and Eve walked in the Way — literally. They walked and talked with God.

Then came the fall:

  • They disobeyed.

  • They felt the separation.

  • They hid.

The crime wasn’t just eating the fruit — it was turning away, covering themselves, and hiding from the One who could heal them.

Ever since, this world has been busy stitching up fig-leaf aprons and holding up false veils — shame, distraction, fear — to keep us from looking Him in the eye.

Way-walking is the opposite of that. It’s choosing to drop the fig leaves, step out from the trees, and meet Him face-to-face again.

πŸ‘ Opening Our Spiritual Eyes

The tribes knew this:
You can’t walk in the Way if you’re blind to it.

The world will gladly keep the veil over your eyes — but Christ came to tear that veil in two.
Walking in the Way means:

  • Trusting the Holy Ghost to guide your steps

  • Listening to the gentle nudges of the guardian angel God assigned to walk beside you

  • Letting nature and creation remind you daily of His presence

  • Seeking Him until He comes

🚢 An Invitation

Whether you call it walking in the Way, receiving the Second Comforter, or way-walking — the path is the same.

The Savior Himself is that Way.
The Holy Ghost is your constant broadcast of His voice.
Your guardian angel walks the road with you.
And every step you take toward Him is one step closer to the day when you will hear Him say, face-to-face:

“Well done. You’ve walked with Me.”
