✨ When the Path Shifts but the Light Stays #3
✨ When the Path Shifts but the Light Stays
This is the third post in a series about a family I know — dear friends who walk so closely with the Savior that He literally speaks with them. They are not perfect, but they are real. Their lives bear quiet testimony that this kind of relationship with Jesus is not a distant fairy tale or something reserved for prophets of the past.
It is happening here and now.
It is possible for anyone.
And their story proves it.
🕊️ The Honest Questions
Are they still members of the Church? — Yes.
Do they believe in Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon? — Absolutely.
Do they follow another prophet, preacher, or religion? — No. Only Jesus.
What changed was not their faith, but their integrity. They could not say “yes” to every temple recommend question without first receiving a witness from God. When that witness didn’t come, they handed their recommends back — not in rebellion but in honesty before the Lord.
🌿 Pain and the Funeral Prayer
At the funeral of a dear friend, after days of fasting and being filled with the Spirit, leadership stepped in with instructions:
“Keep it short. No teaching.”
Hurt? Yes.
Angry? No.
Because through the confusion, Christ healed the wound. And the scar became part of their sanctification.
🏞️ A Land That Said “Yes”
Later, the Lord led them to a secluded piece of land. With their children, they knelt and asked the land itself if they could come. Most felt a “yes.” One child did not — until a dream came that the land itself answered, “YES,” filling him with light.
So they moved forward. Because God still speaks.
📜 Joseph Smith on Liberty of Belief
Joseph once said:
“I did not like the old man being called up for erring in doctrine. It looks too much like the Methodists… I want the liberty of thinking and believing as I please. It feels so good not to be trammeled.” (History of the Church 5:340)
That liberty is alive in this family’s story.
❤️ The Bigger Picture
Faith isn’t measured by attendance rolls. It is measured by whether Jesus Christ is the center of your home, your marriage, and your heart.
And in their home, you will find:
Daily worship
Prayers that are raw and real
A covenant to give up anything He asks
Not faithlessness — but deeper faithfulness.
🔥 The Only Opinion That Matters
At the end of the day, it is not the bishop’s judgment or the ward’s opinion that matters.
It is the smile of Jesus Christ.
And He is smiling.
💬 Closing Witness
This is not a story of leaving Christ.
It is a story of clinging to Him tighter than ever.
This is not a story of offense.
It is a story of integrity.
This is not a story of apostasy.
It is a story of hearing the Shepherd’s voice — and daring to follow.
And when the path shifts, the Light still stays. ✨
