“How to Keep Your Heart Soft When Life Gets Hard”

(Based on Video #6 — “Talk With Jesus Daily” Series)

Hello friends.
It’s me again…
just a quiet voice from somewhere out in the sagebrush…
a man who’s lived long enough to know that life can harden you if you’re not careful —
and that only Jesus can keep a heart soft in a world gone sharp. πŸ•Š️

Today we’re walking through Video 6,
and this one might be the most needed message yet:

How to keep your heart soft…
so you can keep hearing the Savior.

Because a hard heart blocks the whisper.
A proud heart deafens the Spirit.
And a wounded heart — if left untended — can turn to stone without even noticing.

This one matters.

So let’s walk slow.
Let’s walk honest.
Let’s walk with Him.

πŸ’” 1) Pain Hardens — Unless You Hand It to Jesus

Everybody hurts.

We lose people.
We get betrayed.
We get disappointed.
We see the flaws in people we once trusted.
We get crushed by our own choices.

And pain has one goal:

To turn the heart hard.

But Jesus has another goal:

To turn the heart soft.

The scriptures say:

“I will take away the stony heart…
and give you a heart of flesh.”

— Ezekiel 36:26

That’s the promise.
But it only happens when we bring our pain to Him…

not hide it,
not swallow it,
not pretend it’s fine.

πŸͺ¨ 2) A Hard Heart Can’t Hear Heaven

The Book of Mormon warns about this over and over:

“They hardened their hearts… and they would not hear Him.”
— Alma 12:10–11

Hardness kills revelation.

The Nemenhah Records teach the same truth:

“The Peacemaker whispers only where the heart remains tender.”

So Video 6 is all about this:

The condition of your heart is the condition of your hearing.

If the heart grows bitter — the whisper fades.
If the heart grows proud — the whisper fades.
If the heart grows cold — the whisper fades.

This isn’t punishment.
It’s physics.

🌱 3) Softening Your Heart Is a Daily Practice

This is the heart of Video 6.

Jesus keeps our hearts soft through small daily things:

A) Quiet prayer

Not asking for things.
Just being still before Him.

B) Daily scripture rhythm

The word of God dissolves the crust around the soul.

C) Repent quickly

Don’t let sin harden.
Deal with it while it’s small.

D) Forgive early

Not because people deserve it —
but because your heart does.

E) Serve someone silently

Nothing melts the heart like lifting another.

F) Expect His voice

A hopeful heart stays soft.

Little things keep the clay warm.

πŸ•―️ 4) Soft Hearts Recognize Jesus Instantly

This is why the disciples knew Him.

It wasn’t because of education.
It wasn’t because of rank.
It wasn’t because of titles.
It wasn’t because of church position.

It was because their hearts were tender.

Jesus said:

“Blessed are the pure in heart:
for they shall see God.”

— Matthew 5:8

The impure heart misses Him.
The wounded heart misreads Him.
The proud heart resists Him.

But the soft heart…
the humble heart…
the willing heart…

sees Him everywhere.

In the scriptures.
In the wind.
In the whisper.
In the quiet impression that comes out of nowhere.
In the face of a stranger.
In the moment that interrupts your day unexpectedly.

A soft heart is tuned to His frequency.

🧎 5) Humility Is the Soil Where Revelation Grows

Every prophet in scripture learned this:

• Moses had to humble himself before God talked with him.
• Nephi says the Spirit taught him “according to his humility.”
• Alma had to be brought low before he could hear.
• Isaiah saw the Lord only after saying, “Woe is me.”
• The brother of Jared’s humility opened the heavens.

The Nemenhah Records teach:

“The Haymehnay speaks most clearly to the humble.”

Humility isn’t a weakness.
It’s a doorway.

πŸŒ„ 6) A Soft Heart Turns Trials Into Transformation

Storms don’t harden you.
Your response does.

Trials are neutral.
Suffering is neutral.
Hardship is neutral.

But a soft heart turns all of it into revelation.

The Book of Mormon teaches:

“After the trial of your faith, ye receive the witness.”
— Ether 12:6

A hard heart gets bitter.
A soft heart gets revelation.

A hard heart gets angry.
A soft heart gets wiser.

A hard heart shuts down.
A soft heart opens up.

A hard heart demands answers.
A soft heart receives them.

πŸ•Š️ 7) What Jesus Wants You to Know Today

This is the message of Video 6 in one line:

“Let Me soften your heart…
so you can hear Me again.”

Stop carrying the weight alone.
Stop holding the hurts in your chest.
Stop pretending you’re okay when your heart is cracked down the middle.

Jesus can fix it.
He always has.
He always will.

If you let Him.

Not as experts.
Not as scholars.

one quiet day at a time.
