✨ THE DEAD SEA SCROLLS, JOSEPH SMITH, AND THE THREE ERAS OF MORMONISM
(Before, During, and After Joseph — and What It Means for Us Today)
🎥 Watch first: YouTube Video
(It sets the stage for everything below — about priesthood, authority, and the true restoration.)
🕎 BEFORE JOSEPH — THE ANCIENT PATTERN
You ever notice how every time religion gets too loud,
the Lord starts whispering again in the wilderness? 🌾
That’s what the Dead Sea Scrolls really are —
a message in a bottle from a people who said,
“the temple’s corrupt, we’re starting over.”
They called themselves the Sons of Light — the Essenes.
They lived clean, covenant lives,
awaiting two Messiahs: one priestly 🕊️ and one royal 👑.
The priestly one held higher honor because holiness always precedes kingship.
Sound familiar?
That’s the same heartbeat we hear later in the Book of Mormon and Nemenhah Records —
a small, consecrated remnant keeping faith while the world plays religion.
📜 “Teach your children to seek the Peacemaker’s commission…
for the record of heaven shall be written in their soul.” — Nemenhah Records
🔥 DURING JOSEPH — THE RESTORATION
Fast-forward a couple thousand years —
a farm boy kneels in the woods. 🌲
He doesn’t find an army or an order.
He finds a Voice.
And that Voice says the creeds are corrupt —
just like the Essenes saw in their day.
Joseph’s calling was to re-open heaven —
restore the covenant, rebuild the temple,
and bring back the twofold order:
the priestly spirit of holiness and the royal power of service.
He unified what the ancients only foresaw:
Christ as both High Priest and King,
after the order of Melchizedek. 👑✝️
🪶 “Behold, this is my doctrine —
whosoever repenteth and cometh unto Me, the same is My church.” — 3 Nephi 27:21
Joseph’s early Saints tried to live all things common,
to build Zion, to hear the Voice for themselves.
They may have stumbled, but the fire was alive. 🔥
🏛️ AFTER JOSEPH — WHEN POWER REPLACED PRESENCE
Then the prophet was gone… and the machinery took over. ⚙️
Councils, programs, handbooks —
and soon the Spirit’s voice was buried under policy.
The temple turned into ceremony,
the priesthood turned into rank,
and the people turned into spectators.
It’s the same drift that drove the Essenes to the desert.
They saw a temple run by men who sought gain rather than God.
Sound a little familiar?
📖 “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine…
and shall turn away their ears from the truth.” — 2 Timothy 4:3-4
Even the Nemenhah Records foresaw it:
“Although they who received the restoration did fall away,
yet the Lord did use them for a season,
for they were industrious and well organized.
And through them the Book of Mormon went forth among all nations.” — Book of Tsihohnayah Ahkehkthihm 14:47-49
That verse says it all.
Even after the corruption set in, the Savior still used the LDS Church
to scatter His words across the earth. 🌍
That’s grace. That’s patience. That’s God using imperfect hands to finish a perfect work.
🌿 THE THREAD THAT NEVER BROKE
Here’s the miracle — Heaven never quit.
Whether in Qumran’s caves, Joseph’s grove, or your living room today,
the Peacemaker still whispers: “Come unto Me.”
He still calls out a remnant — a few who care more about holiness than hierarchy.
He still writes His law on hearts, not on church office walls.
📖 “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.” — Hebrews 12:14
The Essenes waited for heaven to open.
Joseph declared it had opened.
The Nemenhah promise it will open again —
when hearts are pure and love rules the councils of the people. 💖
So the question isn’t “Which church is true?”
It’s “Which voice am I following?”
🎯 Am I drawn closer to Jesus,
or deeper into procedure?
💬 COMMENT ON THE VIDEO
That’s why I love the video linked above.
It’s not about tearing anyone down — it’s about waking hearts up.
It asks the same question the Scrolls, the Book of Mormon, and the Nemenhah all ask:
👉 Where’s the true covenant community today?
Maybe it’s not in a building at all.
Maybe it’s in every soul that still hears and obeys the Voice of the Peacemaker.
🌄 THE INVITATION
Watch the video.
Pray. Ponder. Read the scriptures.
Ask yourself:
Does this draw me closer to the Savior?
If yes — hold it tight.
If no — let it fall away like husk from wheat. 🌾
Because Zion isn’t built in Salt Lake or stone —
it’s built in humble hearts that follow His voice,
and hear Him say,
“Come unto Me, ye pure in heart — for ye shall see God.”
