“How to Hear Jesus When You’ve Been Hurt by Religion”
(Based on Video #11 — “Talk With Jesus Daily” Series)
Hello friends.
It’s me again…
the same old man from the sticks who’s been bruised by life,
wounded by people,
and yes — hurt by religion more times than I’d like to admit.
But Jesus?
He never hurt me.
Not once.
And that’s the whole message of Video 11:
How do you hear the Savior’s real voice
when religious noise has wounded your soul?
Let’s walk gently into this one.
Hearts are tender here.
And Jesus is especially close to the broken.
๐ 1) People Can Hurt You — but Jesus Never Will
This truth saved my life.
Churches can mislead.
Leaders can disappoint.
Friends can betray.
Communities can judge.
Religions can get off track.
But Jesus?
Never.
He said:
“Learn of Me…
for I am meek and lowly in heart.”
— Matthew 11:29
Meek.
Gentle.
Lowly.
Accessible.
Safe.
The Nemenhah Records say:
“The Peacemaker carries no club,
neither does He bind the conscience.”
He does not demand.
He does not shame.
He does not wound the soul that seeks Him.
Ever.
๐ฅ 2) Religious Hurt Creates Static That Blocks Revelation
This is where the struggle begins.
When someone gets hurt by a church, or a leader, or a doctrine,
the heart does something protective:
It closes.
And when the heart closes…
• it’s hard to pray
• it’s hard to trust
• it’s hard to believe
• it’s hard to listen
• it’s hard to feel anything divine
Not because Jesus left —
but because pain makes it harder to hear.
The Book of Mormon says:
“They hardened their hearts
and they could not feel His words.”
— 1 Nephi 17:45
That’s what religious hurt does.
It numbs the spirit.
But it can be healed.
๐ฑ 3) Jesus Heals Spiritual Wounds the Same Way He Heals Physical Ones
Video 11 teaches this beautifully:
Healing your relationship with Jesus after religious hurt
takes the same process as healing a physical wound:
✔ Clean it
Be honest about what hurt you.
✔ Bring it into the light
Tell Jesus everything —
especially the things you’re scared to say.
✔ Remove the infection
Let go of bitterness,
anger,
resentment,
and fear.
✔ Bind it with love
Let His words cover your heart again.
✔ Give it time
Healing is slow…
but certain.
David cried:
“He healeth the broken in heart,
and bindeth up their wounds.”
— Psalm 147:3
That’s His specialty.
๐ 4) To Hear Jesus Clearly, You Must Separate His Voice From Religion’s Voice
This is the heart of the entire video.
There are three voices people confuse:
1) The voice of Jesus
Gentle, loving, truthful, warm, peaceful.
2) The voice of religion
Rules, pressure, expectations, cultural noise.
3) The voice of the adversary
Fear, guilt, shame, confusion, intimidation.
The Book of Mormon says:
“The Spirit of Christ is given to every man
that he may know good from evil.”
— Moroni 7:16
That inner knowing —
that pure, sweet discernment —
is how you separate Jesus from everything else.
If the voice sounds like shame —
NOT Jesus.
If it sounds like fear —
NOT Jesus.
If it sounds like someone trying to control you —
NOT Jesus.
If it sounds like love, peace, clarity, and truth —
that’s Him.
Every time.
๐ค 5) Jesus Speaks Most Clearly to the Wounded Who Turn Toward Him
This is where the Nemenhah shines with clarity:
“The wounded heart hears Him first,
for it cries unto Him.”
Your wound is not a weakness.
It’s an opening.
The brokenhearted hear Him more clearly
because they need Him more desperately.
Isaiah said the same:
“He bindeth up the brokenhearted.”
— Isaiah 61:1
Not abandons them.
Not blames them.
Not avoids them.
Binds them up.
The ones who’ve been hurt the most
often hear Him the deepest.
๐ฏ 6) The Way Back Is Simple: Talk to Jesus, Not to the Pain
Video 11 gives a beautiful invitation:
Stop negotiating with the hurt.
Stop arguing with religion.
Stop replaying the betrayal.
Stop trying to fix the people who failed you.
Just… talk to Jesus.
Say:
“Lord, I don’t trust people right now.
But I want to trust You.”
That prayer will move heaven.
He promised:
“Him that cometh to Me
I will in no wise cast out.”
— John 6:37
In NO wise.
Not a chance.
Not ever.
If you come,
He receives you.
๐️ 7) What Jesus Wants You to Know Today
Here’s the whole message of Video 11 in one line:
“Don’t confuse the failures of religion
with My voice.”
People fail.
Churches drift.
Leaders fall short.
But Jesus does not.
He is still gentle.
Still faithful.
Still humble.
Still full of mercy.
Still standing with arms open
for the ones religion has wounded.
You can trust Him
even if you can’t trust them.
He will walk this with you
until the wound becomes wisdom
and the pain becomes peace.
