🌿 Walking With Jesus When Family Doesn’t Understand

(Companion Blog for Video 25)

If you haven’t watched the video yet, I suggest starting there.
This post is for those moments when family relationships feel tender and you want to sit quietly with the Savior and the scriptures, without being pushed to resolve anything.

One of the hardest parts of walking with Jesus
is when the people closest to you
don’t understand the walk you’re on.

You still love them.
You still respect them.
But something has changed inside you —
and you don’t quite know how to explain it.

Sometimes they worry.
Sometimes they question.
Sometimes they misunderstand your silence
or mistake your peace for distance.

That can hurt.

And it can feel lonely.

🌱 Jesus Understands This Kind of Loneliness

Jesus knows what it is like
to be misunderstood by those closest to Him.

The scriptures say plainly:

“For neither did his brethren believe in him.”
(John 7:5)

Even Jesus walked a path
that some of His own family could not follow —
at least not at first.

If you are experiencing this,
you are not failing.

You are walking a road
the Savior Himself has walked.

πŸ“– Love Without Forcing Understanding

Jesus never pressured people to understand Him on His timetable.

He didn’t argue.
He didn’t demand agreement.
He didn’t try to control outcomes.

He loved.
He waited.
He trusted the Father.

Paul later taught something that applies here:

“If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.”
(Romans 12:18)

Peace does not require agreement.
Love does not require explanation.

Sometimes the most Christlike response
is quiet consistency.

🌿 The Book of Mormon: Faith Is Personal

The Book of Mormon reminds us
that faith cannot be lived for someone else.

Each soul walks its own path.

“Ye shall know them by their fruits.”
(Moroni 7:16)

You don’t need to convince your family with words.

Let your life speak.

Peace.
Patience.
Kindness.
Steadiness.

These are fruits that don’t argue.

πŸ”₯ The Nemenhah Records: Walking Without Division

The Nemenhah teachings speak gently to this situation.

The elders teach that the Way is not walked
by pulling others along,
but by walking faithfully yourself.

The Peacemaker never forces understanding.
He invites by example.

Those who walk the Way are taught
to honor family bonds,
to speak with kindness,
and to trust that each heart awakens in its own time.

Love is never withdrawn
because understanding is delayed.

🌱 When You Feel Pulled Between Love and Truth

This can be the hardest place to stand.

You don’t want to betray what you’re learning.
But you also don’t want to hurt the people you love.

If that’s where you are, remember this:

You don’t have to choose between love and truth.

Walking with Jesus teaches you how to carry both.

Jesus said:

“By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
(John 13:35)

Love is not weakness.
Love is not compromise.

Love is strength under control.

πŸ•Š️ Staying Close Without Needing Approval

One of the quiet lessons of walking with Jesus
is learning to stay close to Him
without needing everyone else’s approval.

If you are still showing up with kindness…
still listening…
still honoring your relationships…

You are doing well.

Jesus does not ask you to abandon your family.
He asks you to love them
without losing your soul.

🌿 A Gentle Word for the Road

If your family doesn’t understand right now,
don’t rush them.

Don’t retreat in fear.
Don’t harden your heart.

Just keep walking with Jesus.

Time reveals fruit.
Love keeps doors open.
And the Savior knows how to work
in ways you cannot see yet.
