This post is for those moments when life feels uncertain and you’re learning how to release control without losing faith.
One of the hardest things in the spiritual life
is learning how to let go of control.
We like plans.
We like clarity.
We like knowing what comes next.
Control makes us feel safe.
And when control begins to loosen,
it can feel frightening — even when we trust Jesus.
But letting go of control
is often one of the clearest signs
that faith is deepening.
π± Control and Trust Cannot Lead at the Same Time
Control is not always about pride.
Often, it’s about fear.
Fear of getting hurt.
Fear of making a mistake.
Fear of losing what matters.
Jesus gently speaks to this fear:
“Take no thought for the morrow.”
(Matthew 6:34)
He wasn’t telling us not to care.
He was teaching us where to place our trust.
Trust grows
where control loosens.
π Jesus Modeled Surrender
Jesus lived with complete trust in the Father.
Even when the path was unclear.
Even when suffering lay ahead.
In His hardest moment, He prayed:
“Not my will, but thine, be done.”
(Luke 22:42)
Surrender was not weakness.
It was obedience born of love.
Walking with Jesus means learning
that surrender is strength.
πΏ The Book of Mormon: Trusting God With the Outcome
The Book of Mormon speaks often
about trusting God beyond our understanding.
Nephi faced uncertainty repeatedly,
yet chose to move forward anyway:
“I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded.”
(1 Nephi 3:7)
Nephi did not know how everything would work out.
He trusted the One who asked him to walk.
Faith is not controlling outcomes.
Faith is trusting God with them.
π₯ The Nemenhah Records: Releasing the Need to Direct the Way
The Nemenhah teachings speak clearly to this moment.
The elders teach that the Way cannot be forced or managed.
Those who try to direct every step
often miss the deeper lessons.
The Peacemaker invites trust, not control.
Those who walk the Way learn to release outcomes
and allow the Haymehnay (Holy Spirit)
to guide gently — sometimes invisibly.
Control tightens the heart.
Trust opens it.
π± When Letting Go Feels Uncomfortable
If you’re in a season where:
• plans are changing
• certainty feels weaker
• outcomes are unclear
You may not be losing direction.
You may be learning how to walk by faith.
Paul reminded early believers:
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
(2 Corinthians 5:7)
Faith walks
even when the path isn’t fully visible.
π️ Trusting Jesus With What You Can’t Manage
One of the quiet fruits of walking with Jesus
is realizing you don’t have to manage everything.
You are allowed to rest.
You are allowed to release.
You are allowed to trust.
If you’re still choosing honesty…
still choosing humility…
still choosing love…
You are walking well —
even if you’re not in control.
πΏ A Gentle Word
Letting go does not mean giving up.
It means placing what matters
into hands more capable than your own.
Jesus does not ask you to carry the future.
He asks you to walk with Him today.
