If you haven’t watched the video yet, I suggest starting there.
This blog is for seasons when the next step isn’t clear and you’re learning how to stand still with Jesus without panicking.
And as always, let me say this gently at the start:
If you have questions, or if this touches a place of uncertainty in you, please feel free to ask. I don’t have everything figured out — but I care, and I’ll try to respond as soon as I can.
You don’t have to carry this alone.
There are times in the walk with Jesus
when you simply don’t know what to do next.
No clear direction.
No open door.
No strong feeling either way.
Just… waiting.
And for people who care deeply about doing what’s right,
that kind of stillness can feel uncomfortable.
We want to move.
We want to decide.
We want to be faithful.
But sometimes faith looks like not moving yet.
π± Not Knowing the Next Step Is Part of the Walk
Many people assume that if they were really walking with God,
they would always know what to do.
Scripture tells a different story.
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
(Proverbs 3:5)
If you don’t understand what comes next,
that doesn’t mean you’ve missed something.
It may mean you’re being asked to trust —
without clarity.
π Jesus Sometimes Told People to Wait
Jesus didn’t always give immediate direction.
Before His ascension, He told His disciples:
“Tarry ye… until ye be endued with power from on high.”
(Luke 24:49)
Waiting was not inactivity.
It was preparation.
Learning when not to act
is part of learning how to walk with Him.
πΏ The Book of Mormon: Being Led Without Knowing
The Book of Mormon shows us people
who moved — or waited — without full understanding.
Nephi described this kind of faith plainly:
“I was led by the Spirit, not knowing beforehand the things which I should do.”
(1 Nephi 4:6)
Sometimes the Spirit leads by motion.
Sometimes the Spirit leads by stillness.
Both are forms of guidance.
π₯ The Nemenhah Records: Standing in the Middle of the Way
The Nemenhah teachings speak of moments
when a person stands in the middle of the Way.
The elders teach that these pauses
are not empty spaces,
but places where the heart is aligned.
The Peacemaker does not rush decisions.
He allows time for balance to return.
The Haymehnay (Holy Spirit) works quietly in these spaces,
settling fear, refining intention,
and preparing the soul for the next step —
even when that step is not yet visible.
π± When Waiting Feels Uncomfortable
If you’re in a place where:
• you don’t know what to decide
• moving feels premature
• staying still feels risky
Pause gently.
The Psalmist prayed this simple prayer:
“Show me thy ways, O Lord; teach me thy paths.”
(Psalm 25:4)
You don’t need to force direction.
You can ask — and wait.
Waiting is not wasted time
when you’re waiting with Jesus.
π️ Faith Is Staying Present Without Forcing Movement
One of the quiet strengths of walking with Jesus
is learning how to remain present
without needing to resolve everything.
If you’re still choosing honesty…
still choosing humility…
still choosing love…
You are walking faithfully —
even without a plan.
And if you need to talk it through,
or ask something that feels tangled,
please feel free to ask. I’ll listen, and I’ll do my best to help.
Sometimes clarity comes
after someone has simply been heard.
πΏ A Gentle Word
If you don’t know what to do next,
that’s okay.
Stay close.
Keep your heart soft.
Let Jesus walk with you in the pause.
The next step will come —
and you won’t miss it.
