Follow the Prophet
Amos 3:7 and the Real Deal About Revelation
Most folks in the Church quote this verse like it proves God only talks to the guys at the top:
“Surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” — Amos 3:7
That’s become the rally cry for “follow the prophet.” But what if that’s not what the verse actually means?
π€ Let’s look closer...
The Hebrew word translated as “secret” here is sΓ΄d. It doesn’t mean a list of secrets God whispers to a few guys in meetings. It means counsel—a sacred assembly. A Divine Council where God reveals His will face to face.
It’s not just about hearing something. It’s about being brought into His presence.
π§Ύ Joseph Smith saw it
In his inspired translation, Joseph changed it to:
“Until he revealeth the secret unto his servants the prophets.”
Not many secrets—the secret. The heavenly council. The vision. The call. The real thing.
π This is all over scripture
Jeremiah asks: “Who hath stood in the counsel [sΓ΄d] of the Lord?”
Isaiah sees the Lord on His throne, angels crying “Holy, holy, holy.”
Lehi is caught up and sees God surrounded by angels.
They didn’t guess. They didn’t parrot someone else. They stood in the sΓ΄d.
π And the Nemenhah records say the same thing
In the sacred writings of the Nemenhah, we see this pattern over and over:
True prophets are taken up into a heavenly place, taught by angels, and shown the covenant directly from God.
“They shall say, ‘Come to the house of the Lord,’ but the Lord shall not be there.”
— Tsihohnayah 14:9
“They shall follow a prophet, and forget the voice of God.”
— Tsihohnayah 14:10
“If they had stood in My Council, they would not have led My people astray.”
— echoes Jeremiah 23:22, confirmed by Nemenhah pattern.
The Nemenhah remind us that the Lord invites all to come to Him—not just a select few. And they warn us: not everyone claiming the title of prophet has actually stood in the place where prophets are made.
π§♂️ Where does this leave us?
Right here:
I need my own revelation.
I can’t live off someone else’s testimony anymore. I want the real thing—the fire, the voice, the face of God.
I’ve stopped waiting for permission from institutions. The veil was torn for a reason. Now the Lord says:
“Come unto me. Fear me. Walk with me. And I will show you my covenant.”
(See Psalm 25:14, 3 Nephi 11, and the Nemenhah endowments)
π« False prophets never stood there
The scriptures and Nemenhah both say it:
Some will say “Peace, peace” when there is no peace. Some will wear titles but never hear the voice.
They haven’t stood in the Council. They haven’t seen the Lord. And they lead people away from the Presence, not toward it.
π― So what is Amos 3:7 really about?
Not proving authority.
Not “follow the prophet.”
It’s a warning and a witness:
“The Lord won’t do a thing unless He reveals His heart in the Divine Council—and if someone says they speak for Him, they’d better have been there.”
π₯ My awakening
This is the path I’m walking now.
I’m done outsourcing my faith.
I want to walk into the presence of God, like Isaiah, like Lehi, like Shi-Tugohah, like Mahnti, like Nephi.
This awakening is about returning to the source—
to the One who speaks from the fire and writes His law on hearts, not manuals.
And the best part?
He invites the humble, the broken, the reverent—not just the religious elite.
That’s what the Nemenhah teach. That’s what the Book of Mormon shows. That’s what the Lord is whispering to those who are willing to hear.
And I’m listening now.
