He Knows What You Are Going Through!
π️ He Knows What You’re Going Through
π From the Bountiful Temple to the Doctor’s Office
I’m writing this right now from a parking spot near the Bountiful Temple.
Thought I’d stop here before heading to the doctor. Just wanted to feel the moment.
This place brings back memories. Painful ones. Beautiful ones too.
Many years ago, I lived in a home just up the hill from this temple. Could see it out my bedroom window. Four kids. A wife who was Relief Society President. I thought I had the best little family on earth. We were doing all the Church things—callings, temple trips, family home evenings.
And then one day, out of nowhere…
π Divorce papers. Filed.
❌ Temple recommend. Taken away.
π No serious sins. No affair. No disqualifying confession.
I wasn’t perfect, but I was doing the best I knew how.
Still, the stake president yanked my recommend.
π§ Alone With the Lord
I’ll never forget that night.
I was alone in our master bedroom, looking out at the glowing temple in the dark.
That holy place… now out of reach.
I fell to my knees, raised my hands, and cried:
“Lord, help me get through this. Please… help me.”
And then, in a moment of bitterness and desperation, I whispered:
“How do You know what I’m going through?
Were You ever divorced?”
And that’s when it happened.
⚡ The Spirit filled every part of me.
π¬ And I heard His voice—not out loud, but inside, clear as anything:
“I know exactly what you’re going through.”
I felt His arms around me.
I felt understood.
I felt loved.
There are no words for that moment. Just tears.
π Recommend or Not, He Walks With You
Soon after my recommend was taken.
π¦ A shipment that was meant to go to my house somehow got sent to the temple.
I went over to pick it up.
And there at the back door was the temple security man saying my package was inside.
He smiled and said,
“You’ve got your recommend, right? Come on in and I’ll grab your order.”
I didn’t say a word. I just followed.
πͺ And for a few brief moments,
I stood inside that holy place again—without a recommend.
And I felt the Spirit whisper:
“You don’t need a man’s permission to be in My presence.”
πΏ What I’ve Learned
• Sometimes it takes hitting bottom before we truly walk with the Lord
• He knows exactly what we’re going through—because He’s lived it all
• Institutions may deny access, but Jesus never does
• You can feel Him in a temple… and you can feel Him in a truck stop
• When you raise your hands and cry to Him, He will answer
π₯ Final Thought
I used to think the temple was the gate to heaven.
But I’ve learned it’s Jesus Christ who is the gate.
He doesn’t check cards or tithing receipts!
He checks hearts.
And if your heart cries out for Him—He’s already there.
“Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you.”

π Scripture Truths – He Will Receive You
From the Book of Mormon:
“Yea, come unto Christ, and be perfected in him… and deny yourselves of all ungodliness… then is his grace sufficient for you.”
— Moroni 10:32
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him…”
— 3 Nephi 20:8 (compare Revelation 3:20)
“He inviteth them all to come unto him and partake of his goodness… and he denieth none that come unto him.”
— 2 Nephi 26:33
From the Nemenhah Records:
“Whoso shall call upon the Lord in truth and brokenness, the same shall feel His presence, for He is not far.
“The Peacemaker shall walk with them who seek Him… and His voice shall be heard by those whose hearts are soft.”
“And I knelt down in the dust and called upon His name, and lo, I was not alone.
