Polygamy & False Covenants

“Woe unto them who add line upon line of their own making and say, ‘The Spirit commanded it.’ They shall take daughters to themselves, calling it consecration, but it is abomination.”

The Nemenhah Records didn’t just predict false doctrines—they specifically named the rise of polygamy and coerced marriage covenants as a sign of corruption after the Restoration.
And history has fulfilled it exactly.

🕵️♂️ The Witness of Joseph Smith
Joseph’s own words align perfectly with the Nemenhah:
“I had not been married scarcely five minutes… before it was reported that I had seven wives. What a thing it is for a man to be accused of committing adultery, and having seven wives, when I can only find one.”
(History of the Church 6:411)
The Book of Mormon says the same:
“For there shall not any man among you have save it be one wife; and concubines he shall have none… for I, the Lord, delight in the chastity of women.”
(Jacob 2:27–28)
Three witnesses—the Book of Mormon, Joseph, and the Nemenhah—all say the same thing.
🔗 Coerced Covenants & Control
The Nemenhah weren’t just warning about men taking extra wives—they were warning about spiritual coercion: using marriage as a tool to control people.

Brigham’s Utah period: Women were sealed to powerful leaders “for their exaltation,” often under intense pressure.

🧭 Reverse-Engineering the Truth
Here’s how we uncover it:
Start with the prophecy – The Nemenhah say polygamy would be introduced falsely.
Look for the history – Brigham introduced Section 132 publicly in 1852, eight years after Joseph’s death.
Test it with other witnesses – Joseph’s life, the Book of Mormon, and modern DNA evidence (no children outside Emma) confirm he lived the true covenant.
If the Nemenhah were right about this, what else did they warn us about that we haven’t yet uncovered?

The Nemenhah spoke this for our day—not to shame, but to call us back to Christ.
The Lord loves all of us, even those who were deceived. This is not about bitterness; it’s about light.

We pray for those who suffered under false covenants, for women who were pressured, for families divided by doctrines You never spoke.
Heal the wounds of the past. Restore hearts to You. Teach us to love and forgive, even as truth comes to light.
Make us humble wheat, not proud tares. Prepare us for Zion.
