πŸ•Š️ The Modern Test – Church or Savior?

(Day 4 of “Finding Joy and Peace in a World of Contention” Series)

If you’ve followed this series so far, you’ve seen:

  • The Lord’s warning of condemnation.

  • The way back through the rod in Lehi’s dream.

  • The danger of living on borrowed light.

Today we’re going to talk about a prophecy that puts all of this into sharp focus — the modern test that will come upon the Saints.

πŸ“œ The Prophetic Warning

President Russell M. Nelson said:

“In coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the constant influence of the Holy Ghost.”

This is not casual counsel — it’s a survival warning.
If we do not know how to hear and follow the Holy Ghost for ourselves, we will not stand.

πŸͺΆ The Great Sieve

Over 150 years ago, Heber C. Kimball, counselor in the First Presidency under Brigham Young, spoke of a “great sifting” that would come upon the Church:

“The time will come when no man nor woman will be able to endure on borrowed light. Each will have to be guided by the light within themselves. If you do not have it, how can you stand?”

He foresaw a time when the faithful would be pressed to choose between the Church and the Savior.

⚠️ A Hard Truth

Many good Saints assume that choosing the Church and choosing the Savior are always the same thing.
But history — and prophecy — say otherwise.

If the institution and the voice of Christ part ways, the safe choice will always be the Savior.

πŸ” Why This Test Is Coming

  • Institutions can change policies to fit the world.

  • Leaders can make mistakes or follow tradition instead of revelation.

  • Cultural pressure can twist doctrine into something easier to live but emptier in power.

The Lord allows this sifting so we will finally anchor our souls in Him alone.

✨ How to Pass the Test

  • Learn the sound of His voice now.

  • Test every teaching — even from leaders — against the Spirit’s witness.

  • Be willing to follow Him even when it’s uncomfortable or unpopular.

🌺 The Invitation

Today’s step toward joy in a world of contention is this: Ask the Lord to show you where your loyalties really lie — in Him, or in the institution.

Tomorrow, in Day 5, we’ll go deep into the Doctrine of Christ — heaven’s simple formula for peace in any storm.
