๐️If I'm on the other side or not here is what I know!
๐️ What I Have Learned — And What I Believe
๐ Why I’m Writing This Now
Life has a way of cutting through the noise and showing you what really matters.
For me, that reminder came when I had to put away my golf clubs — something I never thought I’d do — and face the reality of an upcoming back surgery. Actually the surgery was on Wed and Fri.
Golf had been my game. My break from the world. My “happy place.” But when I set it aside, the Lord filled that space with something better — quiet mornings with the scriptures, long talks with Him, and this blog.
I’ve felt a sense of urgency from the Lord to share these things before my operation. If you’re reading this, it’s because I wanted you to know my heart, no matter what comes next.
๐พ Lesson 1: Don’t Follow the White Robe — Follow the Voice
In Lehi’s dream, a man in a white robe leads people away into the dark. I’ve learned — sometimes the hard way — that not everyone who looks religious is leading you to Christ.
When I was younger, I trusted a lot in the “white robes” — the outward signs that someone was safe to follow. But over time, I found that the safest guide I will ever have is His living voice.
There were mornings on the ranch when I’d stop halfway through a chore, just knowing the Lord was telling me to pray right there. And every time I obeyed, something shifted in my heart.
๐พ Lesson 2: Borrowed Light Won’t Last
You can’t make it on someone else’s oil.
I remember sitting in church one Sunday, realizing that most of what I “believed” came from what I’d heard in talks or lessons — not from what I’d wrestled through with the Lord myself.
The first time I got a clear answer from Him — alone, without anyone else’s voice in the room — I felt a freedom I can’t describe. It was like He was saying, “Now we’re talking, Bob. Just you and Me.”
That’s when I knew: borrowed light won’t last. You’ve got to get your own.
๐พ Lesson 3: The True Doctrine of Christ Is Simple
The Savior’s path isn’t complicated: repent, be baptized, receive the Holy Ghost, and follow Him.
I remember reading 2 Nephi 31 again after decades, and it hit me like the first swing on a crisp summer morning — straight and true. No man-made additions. No extra hoops. Just the way He gave it.
It was so clear that I actually laughed out loud and said, “Lord, we’ve sure made a mess of this, haven’t we?”
✝️ What I Believe
Jesus Christ is my Savior, Redeemer, and the only name by which we can be saved.
The Book of Mormon is true — I’ve read it enough to know it changes a man from the inside out.
The Bible and other inspired records are living water when you’re thirsty for Him.
The Holy Ghost is real, personal, and will talk to you if you’ll listen.
No man or institution can take the place of the Lord’s voice in your life.
He will lead anyone — anywhere — who humbles themselves and seeks Him with a real heart.
๐ How I Learned It
It came piece by piece.
The quiet mornings in my study chair with the scriptures open.
The still, small nudges in the middle of chores.
The moments of pain when all I could do was call His name and feel His peace wash over me.
Walking away from golf was harder than I expected — but it gave me something worth far more: time with Him.
๐ My Hope for You
If you take nothing else from these words, take this:
Talk to Him yourself.
Ask Him what’s true. Ask Him where He wants you. Ask Him who He says you are.
If you do, you’ll find — like I have — that He’s been closer than you ever imagined.
