The Pursuit of God
📝 Their Message (Summary)
A.W. Tozer, writing in 1948, saw what we still see today: many Christians content with “right opinions” about God but without the fire of His Presence. Churches build altars, arrange sacrifices, and polish programs—but without the flame from heaven.
The true sign of revival, Tozer said, is a growing hunger for God Himself—not just His doctrines, not just His blessings, but His Presence. Hungry souls will not be satisfied until they have “drunk deep at the Fountain of Living Water.”
The Bible was never meant to be an end in itself, but a doorway into intimacy with God. Tozer reminds us that the “art of worship” is not performance or structure, but tasting the sweetness of the Lord in the depths of our hearts.
🔥 My Reflection
This pierces me. How often do I settle for information about God instead of communion with Him? How many times have I left worship thinking only of the songs, the sermon, or the structure—without asking, “Did I meet Him? Did His fire fall?”
Tozer’s words remind me that orthodoxy without encounter leaves us starving while sitting at the Father’s table. What my heart longs for is not more programs, but His Presence. Not just to know about Him, but to know Him.
🕊️ The Invitation
Slow down. Read less. Listen less. But when you do—seek Him. Refuse to be content with right opinions about God without right love for God.
Pray:
“Lord, I am hungry for You. Do not let me be satisfied with words, programs, or religion without fire. Let me drink deep of Your Presence. Light my heart with Your flame.”
God is still looking for those who pursue Him above all else.
