The Worst Possible Thing Can Never Happen to You
📝 Their Message (Summary)
A dear friend once said: “The worst possible thing that could ever happen to you, can never happen to you.” Why? Because nothing—no loss, no silence, no suffering—can ever separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:38–39).
This is the anchor: the deepest fear cannot come true, because God’s love is undefeatable. Jesus is the Bridegroom, the Friend, the Lion and the Lamb, the Desire of our hearts. If all we do is worship Him and trust Him, it is enough.
And yet—life has seasons where He seems elusive, hidden, or silent. Like Mary outside the tomb, we may long for Him and not recognize Him, mistaking Him for a gardener until He calls us by name. One word—“Mary”—was enough to open her eyes.
So too with us: we must invite Him to call our name, to breathe on the embers of our heart, to awaken the desires He Himself placed within us. He is never gone. He is only waiting for us to see.
🔥 My Reflection
This pierced me deeply. I realize how often I fear losing control, losing dreams, or losing what I love most. But the reminder is powerful: even if every outward thing falls apart, I cannot lose His love. That is the one unshakable reality.
Like Mary, I sometimes stand weeping, blind to the fact that Jesus is right in front of me. How much more would my faith grow if I dared to believe that He is present, even when unrecognized? That His love surrounds me even in silence?
The question haunts me—in a good way: “Why are you crying? Who is it you are looking for?”
🕊️ The Invitation
Ask the Lord to call your name. Set aside holy time with pen and paper, and write:
Where were You, Lord, in my distress?
Where are You now?
What keeps me from recognizing You?
Don’t give up if no answer comes quickly. Keep asking, listening, waiting. He delights to reveal Himself to those who seek.
Then pray:
“Jesus, call my name. Open my eyes. Let me see You standing before me. Teach me to trust that nothing can separate me from Your love.”
