“The Good Shepherd”

📝 Their Message (Summary)
This weekend I was working on a puzzle and decided to listen to the scriptures. I landed in Genesis, hearing again the story of Jacob marrying Leah and then Rachel. I know it well, yet this time it crushed my heart. God is strange. His ways are not mine. And when I hit that wall of confusion, I return to the basics: Jesus.

“All truth can be circumscribed into one great whole.”
That whole is Christ Himself.

He declared: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)

There are many “ways” people chase after light, but only One Name and One Way by which we are saved. Jesus is the Door of the sheep. Whoever climbs up another way is a thief and a robber (John 10:1, 7).

⭐ The Good Shepherd ⭐

Jesus makes His mission clear:

  • “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” (v.11)

  • “…I lay down my life for the sheep.” (v.15)

  • “…I lay down my life…” (v.17)

  • “No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself…” (v.18)

This is no hireling who flees when wolves come. The sheep are His, and He runs toward the danger, laying down His life to save them.

Imagine the wolves attacking at night. The Shepherd flings Himself forward and is torn apart in front of His flock. The sheep cannot even comprehend the sacrifice made for them. And that is us. We scatter, we flee, we seek ourselves first. And yet—He still lays down His life.

🔥 My Reflection
I don’t fully understand His ways. Throwing yourself before wolves for dumb animals makes no sense. But it is exactly this incomprehensible love that has won my heart.

I am like the hireling. I am like the sheep. And yet He calls me His own. He is the Shepherd who goes before me.

🕊️ The Invitation
Come to know Him as the Shepherd who runs toward danger, not away. Stop trying to climb in “another way.” Enter by the Door. Let Him lead, and trust His voice.

📖 Scriptures to Ponder
John 10 — “I am the Good Shepherd… I lay down my life for the sheep.”
2 Nephi 31:21 — “This is the way; and there is none other way…”
Psalm 23 — “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
