✨ Those Who Walk With Jesus — Part 38 ✨
The Good Shepherd
📝 Their Message (Summary)
In John 10, Jesus calls Himself the Good Shepherd. Four times He declares, “I lay down my life for the sheep.” Unlike a hireling who flees when wolves appear, the Good Shepherd runs toward danger, offering His own life so that His flock might live.
The picture is almost unbearable: wolves tearing the Shepherd apart before the very sheep He protects. And yet, the sheep cannot comprehend it. They scatter, they flee, they continue in their animal instincts. Still, He dies for them. Still, He dies for us.
We may try to find “other ways” to climb to truth, but Jesus reminds us: He is the Door. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life (John 14:6). No other path saves. No other shepherd sacrifices like this.
🔥 My Reflection
I admit: I do not understand His ways. Throwing oneself in front of wolves for dumb, wandering sheep makes no sense. And yet, He did it. For me. For you. For all of us.
I see myself in the hireling who flees when fear comes. I see myself in the sheep who does not comprehend the sacrifice. And yet, this incomprehensible Shepherd continues to pursue me, continues to lay down His life, continues to lead me by His voice.
His love wins me even when I don’t understand Him. Especially when I don’t understand Him.
🕊️ The Invitation
Ask: Do I really believe Jesus is my Shepherd, not just in principle but in practice—leading, protecting, laying down His life for me?
Pray:
“Good Shepherd, I confess I am a sheep—fearful, wandering, selfish. Thank You for running toward the wolves when I cannot. Help me trust Your voice, follow where You lead, and rest in the safety of Your love.”Recommit to let Him be your Way, your Door, your Life.
