The King is Coming or Global Warming?
📝 Their Message (Summary)
Fear sells. Media thrives on keeping people anxious — pandemics, politics, climate “crises.” Yet earthquakes, seas swelling, nations in commotion — these things were foretold long before CNN gave them a headline. The “birth pains” are not evidence of man’s power to destroy the earth, but of the earth’s travail before the King’s return (Matthew 24:8).
Satan divides into “-ites.” Brother against sister, nation against nation, tribe against tribe. Out of chaos rises the counterfeit: an anti-Christ who will preach tolerance, unity, peace, and “new world order.” It will sound good. It will look like Zion. But it will be deception.
Lewis’s Narnia points to a deeper truth: “Aslan is on the move.” The curse of endless winter begins to melt when the True King comes near. Likewise, the “crisis” narrative of endless doom is not the whole story. The earth groans because redemption is at hand (Romans 8:22).
Even preparation can become a subtle idolatry. The Lord warned me personally that trusting in birds, barns, or coops can displace trust in Him. “Lo, here is Christ” is not only false Messiahs in robes — it is anything we secretly believe will save us apart from Jesus.
Jesus Himself cursed the fig tree — leafy, pompous, but fruitless. It symbolized Israel’s religiosity without love. It also stripped away Satan’s first counterfeit covering — the fig leaves of Eden. When the Romans crowned Him with thorns, He bore the curse of Adam fully. By His death, both veil and curse were torn away.
🔥 My Reflection
This convicts me: do I interpret every crisis as another excuse to fear? Or do I see the signs of summer? Do I trust survival plans more than the Savior’s plan? He is the Tree of Life. The King is indeed on the move.
🕊️ The Invitation
Ask yourself: Am I reading the news more closely than the fig trees?
Read D&C 45:33–42. Note Christ’s command: “Be not troubled.”
Pray: “Lord, strip away my fig leaves. Teach me to see beyond the crisis narrative. Teach me to watch for You.”
Let your heart be stirred: when fear rises, whisper, “Aslan is on the move. The King is near.”
