✨ Those Who Walk With Jesus — Part 42 ✨

The Power of The Cross

📝 Their Message (Summary)
The Cross is not an ornament. It is not a relic. It is the very power of God. Paul said: “The preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God (1 Cor. 1:18).

It is where justice and mercy meet. Where Christ bore the curse of Adam and Eve — thorns, death, exile — and reversed it by wearing a crown of thorns and hanging on a tree. “The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom ye slew and hanged on a tree” (Acts 5:30). The Cross takes us back to Eden and forward to Zion.

The adversary mocks the Cross because it is the sign of his defeat. Moroni records the dark “sacraments” of the enemy (Moroni 9), while Moses 5 shows Cain swearing by his throat and embracing secret emblems. Yet in contrast, God gave the world one holy emblem — the Cross of His Son.

Through it, as Isaiah prophesied, with His stripes we are healed (Isa. 53:5).

🔥 My Reflection
When my daughter discovered a little cross charm in her jewelry kit and exclaimed with joy, “I’ve always wanted a cross!” — my first reaction was joy, followed quickly by fear. What if she is judged? What if she’s misunderstood? But in her childlike purity she saw only beauty. “Out of the mouth of babes… thou hast perfected praise” (Ps. 8:2).

The Lord has been teaching me the same lesson. For two years I’ve battled relentless twitching in my eye. Vitamins, sleep, even medical procedures couldn’t stop it. In desperation I traced the cross on my brow and prayed: “I worship Jesus Christ.”

The twitch stopped immediately. And again the next day. The power of the Cross silenced what nothing else could.

The Cross is not weakness. It is victory. Satan fears it because it proclaims the one thing he cannot undo — Christ crucified, risen, and triumphant.

🕊️ The Invitation
Take up the Cross — not only in symbol, but in spirit.

  • When you are afflicted, mark yourself with the Cross in prayer.

  • When you doubt, cling to the Cross as the “tree of life” lifted up before you.

  • When you despair, remember Paul’s words“God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Gal. 6:14).

The Cross brings you face to face with the only true hope: “There is no salvation of soul, nor hope of eternal life, save in the Cross” (Thomas à Kempis).

🌿 Scriptures to Ponder

  • 2 Nephi 9: “O how great the plan of our God! … death and hell must deliver up their captives.”

  • 3 Nephi 27: “My Father sent me that I might be lifted up upon the cross… that I might draw all men unto me.”

  • D&C 76: “They are they who crucify the Son of God afresh.”

  • John 3:14: “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up.”

🙏 Prayer
Lord Jesus, let me glory in nothing but Your Cross. Let me wear it not only outwardly, but inwardly. Plant it deep in my heart. Let its power stop the twitch of unbelief, silence the torment of the adversary, and break every chain. In Your stripes I am healed. In Your blood I am cleansed. In Your Cross I am free.
