Technology has accelerated humanity’s progress at a breathtaking pace—from horses to rockets, telegrams to FaceTime, dust roads to AI-driven cars. Yet this rapid advancement has also produced a fragility—our entire way of life rests on the electrical grid, vulnerable to a single blow. As Moroni foresaw, prophets of old saw our doing.
Daniel’s dream described a statue: head of gold, arms of silver, belly of bronze, legs of iron, and feet of iron mixed with clay. Many interpretations exist, but this post sees the iron and clay as the strange union of technology (iron) and humanity (clay). The strong mixed with the fragile. AI and silicon interlaced with flesh and dust. Man reaching again for godhood without God.
The number 666 is explored through ancient patterns: six days of creation, Noah’s six hundred years, the fullness of man’s labor without rest. Six is work; seven is completion. 666, then, is not cartoonish darkness, but dazzling pride—the perfection of man’s systems, control, and labor while excluding Sabbath, margin, and divine rest. It is the worship of the image of man.
The warning is sobering: as artificial intelligence advances and as humanity bows before metal gods glowing in our palms, we may already be worshiping an idol as real as Nebuchadnezzar’s statue. Those who refuse to bow to the “image of man” will be excluded from the system. Banking, identity, and trade will hinge on compliance with the beast’s perfection of control.
But the dream ends with hope. A Stone cut without hands smashes the image, grinding it to dust. That Stone is Christ. His coming will topple every empire built on iron and clay, every Babel-like system of human pride. His Kingdom will fill the whole earth.
🔥 My Reflection
This post is both prophetic and piercing. It shows how easy it is to be lulled into worshiping the works of our own hands, mistaking progress for salvation. But Zion cannot be built by iron and clay, by apps and systems, or even by “perfect” institutions. It will only be built when Christ Himself comes to dwell among His people.
The real danger of 666 is not obvious evil, but seductive brilliance. Systems that promise to account for everything. Machines that appear to know all. Leaders who claim to unify all. Yet these exclude the one thing that matters: the rest, the margin, the divine breath of God.
As the post says, we live as though we walked into the movie an hour late, talking about the climax without knowing the story. But Christianity is not an idea. It is an encounter. Only Jesus can end our exile and bring us home.

Beware of worshiping the image of man—be it technology, science, or religious institutions.
Refuse to bow to systems that demand your soul.
Fix your eyes on the Stone cut without hands, who will shatter every idol.
Seek not perfection of systems, but intimacy with the Savior.
