๐Ÿชถ Knowledge Without Fear --- Medicine Wheel #3

๐Ÿชถ Knowledge Without Fear

Last time we sat in the center.

We remembered:

We are already here.
We carry divine endowment.
We have noble agency safeguarded by the Peacemaker.

Now we take our first step outward.

Into Knowledge.

๐Ÿชถ A Simple Reminder

The Medicine Wheel moves in a pattern.

It begins in the center — where we remember who we are.

Then it moves outward in steps.

Knowledge is the first step.

๐ŸŒฟ The First Pillar: Knowledge

The first step outward on the Wheel is simple:

Observe.

Study.

Listen.

Learn.

Not judge.
Not condemn.
Not defend.

Just see.

That sounds easy.

It isn’t.

Because most of us were taught how to defend our beliefs
before we were taught how to examine them.

๐Ÿ•Š️ Why Knowledge Scares People

If you were raised in a system where obedience came first,
then knowledge can feel threatening.

Because knowledge asks questions.

And if your identity is tied to a belief system,
questions feel dangerous.

But truth has nothing to fear from investigation.

If something is real,
it will still be real after you examine it.

If something collapses under honest inquiry,
it was never strong to begin with.

That’s not rebellion.

That’s maturity.

๐ŸŒ„ The Difference Between Curiosity and Doubt

There’s a difference between cynical doubt
and sacred curiosity.

Cynical doubt says:

“I don’t believe anything.”

Sacred curiosity says:

“I want to understand.”

One tears down.

The other builds.

The Pillar of Knowledge is sacred curiosity.

It’s asking:

Why did they do it that way?
What was the principle behind it?
What was happening in that culture?
What is timeless here?
What was temporary?

That’s not losing faith.

That’s strengthening it.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Knowledge Is Not the Enemy of the Spirit

Some people act like studying history, psychology, science, or alternate records is dangerous.

But the Spirit is not fragile.

The Holy Ghost does not panic when you read widely.

If truth is truth,
it will harmonize.

And if it doesn’t harmonize,
discernment helps you sort it out.

Remember — we already settled the center.

We are not trying to earn our place.

We are learning how reality actually works.

๐ŸŒพ The Problem With Blind Acceptance

Here’s something I had to face:

There were things I believed simply because I was told to.

Not because I understood them.

Not because I had confirmation.

But because that’s what “good members” believed.

That kind of faith is fragile.

It collapses under pressure.

The Pillar of Knowledge strengthens faith
by rooting it in understanding.

๐Ÿชถ Moroni and Knowledge

Think about Moroni after the collapse.

He had seen everything fail.

Political systems.

Military strength.

Religious pride.

If he had clung blindly to old assumptions,
he would have shattered.

Instead, something different emerged.

A willingness to observe.

To learn from what had gone wrong.

To ask:

What really caused this?

That’s knowledge without fear.

๐ŸŒŠ Knowledge Expands the Center

Every time you honestly examine something
and don’t run from it,

your understanding of the center deepens.

You realize:

You don’t need to protect God.

You don’t need to protect truth.

Truth protects itself.

Your job is to see clearly.

๐ŸŒฟ What Knowledge Is Not

It’s not:

  • Winning arguments

  • Collecting facts to dominate others

  • Weaponizing information

It’s not becoming smarter than everyone else.

It’s becoming humbler.

The more you learn,
the more you realize how much you don’t know.

And that’s a good place to stand.

๐Ÿ•Š️ The Quiet Practice

This week, try something simple.

Pick one belief you’ve always held.

Not one you’re angry about.

Just one.

And ask gently:

Why do I believe this?

Where did it come from?

What is the principle behind it?

Do I understand it — or have I inherited it?

Don’t panic if the answer is unclear.

The Wheel turns slowly.

๐ŸŒ„ Why This Matters

If you skip Knowledge,
you end up with:

Inherited faith.
Inherited fear.
Inherited limits.

If you walk Knowledge honestly,
you end up with:

Personal faith.
Personal clarity.
Personal alignment.

And when that happens,
obedience doesn’t feel like control.

It feels like harmony.

Next, we’ll move into Wisdom.

Knowledge gathers information.

Wisdom knows what to do with it.

Still walking.

๐Ÿ“œ KNOWLEDGE — AS SCRIPTURE INVITES IT

If seeking knowledge without fear is right…

we should see that invitation clearly in scripture.

And we do.

๐Ÿ•Š️ Ask — Don’t Assume

  • Bible — James 1:5
    • “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God…”

๐Ÿ‘‰ Questions are not rebellion
๐Ÿ‘‰ They are invited

๐ŸŒฟ Seek Learning Broadly

  • Doctrine and Covenants — D&C 88:118
    • “Seek learning, even by study and also by faith”

๐Ÿ‘‰ Not just faith
๐Ÿ‘‰ Not just study
๐Ÿ‘‰ Both together

๐ŸŒพ Truth Can Be Examined

  • Book of Mormon — Alma 32:27
    • “Even if ye can no more than desire to believe…”

๐Ÿ‘‰ Faith begins with openness
๐Ÿ‘‰ Not forced certainty

๐Ÿ”ฅ Test It — Don’t Fear It

  • Bible — 1 Thessalonians 5:21
    • “Prove all things; hold fast that which is good”

๐Ÿ‘‰ Truth welcomes testing
๐Ÿ‘‰ It doesn’t hide from it

๐Ÿ•Š️ The Spirit Helps You Discern

  • Book of Mormon — Moroni 10:5
    • “By the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know…”

๐Ÿ‘‰ Knowledge is not just gathered
๐Ÿ‘‰ It is confirmed

๐Ÿ” TWO APPROACHES TO KNOWLEDGE

Fear-Based LearningFaith-Based Learning
Avoid hard questionsAsk honest questions
Protect beliefsExamine beliefs
Stay inside limitsExplore with guidance
AnxietyCuriosity
Fragile faithRooted faith

๐ŸŒฑ A SIMPLE WAY TO CHECK

When you encounter something new:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Does this make me feel like I need to run…
๐Ÿ‘‰ or like I can calmly sit with it and learn?

Truth rarely creates panic.

It invites understanding.

๐Ÿชถ FINAL THOUGHT

God has never asked us to be afraid of learning.

He has asked us to:

๐Ÿ‘‰ seek
๐Ÿ‘‰ ask
๐Ÿ‘‰ knock
๐Ÿ‘‰ listen

And trust that as we do,

๐Ÿ‘‰ the Spirit will sort truth from error
๐Ÿ‘‰ without fear
๐Ÿ‘‰ without pressure
๐Ÿ‘‰ without hurry

Because real knowledge…

doesn’t pull you away from Him.

It brings you closer.
