๐ฅ Video 84 — Repentance (Reframed Gently)
๐ฅ Video 84 — Repentance (Reframed Gently)
๐ Repentance Is Softer Than You Think
For a long time,
the word repentance felt heavy to me.
It sounded serious.
Almost like bad news.
Like something had gone wrong,
and now I had to fix it.
⚖️ What I Thought It Meant
I used to hear repentance and think:
“I need to do better.”
“I need to try harder.”
“I need to straighten myself out.”
And even if nobody said it out loud…
that’s how it felt inside.
Like I had disappointed God.
Like I had drifted too far.
Like I needed to clean myself up
before I could really come back.
That kind of thinking wears a person out.
Because if you live that way…
repentance starts to feel like pressure.
Not peace.
๐ฑ Something Started Shifting
But something changed for me over time.
And it didn’t happen all at once.
It happened slowly.
Quietly.
Just by walking with the Lord a little longer.
I started seeing that repentance
was not really about beating yourself up.
It wasn’t about proving how sorry you are.
It wasn’t about earning your way back.
๐ก A Simpler Way to See It
It was more like this:
You notice you’ve drifted a little.
Your heart gets tight.
Or distracted.
Or tired.
And instead of hiding…
you just turn.
That’s it.
๐ Alma Saw It This Way Too
In Alma 36,
Alma talks about being in deep pain—
even feeling “racked” with it.
But the turning point wasn’t him fixing everything.
It was this:
He remembered Jesus Christ.
And he cried within his heart.
That’s when everything changed.
Not after a checklist.
Not after proving anything.
But in the moment he turned.
And Alma says that right then…
his pain was replaced with joy.
Not slowly.
Not eventually.
But immediately.
๐️ The Way He Actually Responds
That changed how I see repentance.
Because it means repentance isn’t about staying in the pain.
It’s about turning out of it.
Turning toward Him.
And being received.
When I’ve honestly turned to the Lord…
He didn’t meet me with shame.
He met me with mercy.
He didn’t push me away.
He received me.
❤️ It Became a Relationship
And that changes everything.
Because now repentance isn’t this heavy word.
It’s part of the relationship.
Like in a good marriage…
or with your kids…
or a close friend.
You notice something is off.
So you soften.
You come back.
You reconnect.
๐ง What It Looks Like for Me Now
Some of the deepest repentance in my life
hasn’t looked dramatic at all.
It’s looked like this:
Sitting quietly.
Realizing my heart got hard somewhere.
Realizing I was carrying frustration…
or pride…
or fear…
And then just saying:
“Lord… help me turn.”
Not a performance.
Not a checklist.
Just an honest turning.
๐ A Way of Living
The older I get…
the more I see repentance as part of daily life.
Not because we’re constantly failing—
but because we’re constantly learning.
We drift.
We turn.
We get distracted.
We turn.
We tighten up.
He softens us.
๐ฟ A Gentler Truth
And here’s something that changed everything for me:
I used to think repentance meant
I had to go back to Him.
But that’s not really it.
Because He was never the one who moved.
He’s already there.
Right where He’s always been.
So repentance isn’t about going back to Him.
It’s just turning toward Him.
And realizing…
He never left.
❤️ For Anyone Carrying Weight
There are a lot of good people
carrying a heavy idea of repentance.
They love God.
They want to do right.
But deep down…
they feel like they’re never quite enough.
That’s a tiring way to live.
๐ Final Thought
What I’ve come to believe is this:
Repentance is not God standing far off,
waiting for you to prove yourself.
It’s God inviting you closer.
It’s not rejection.
It’s invitation.
It’s not distance.
It’s turning.
So now when I think of repentance…
I don’t think of fear.
I think of home.
I think of softening.
I think of turning toward Him
again and again.
And the beautiful part is…
He’s already there.
