🪶 When Prophets Leave the System

Corianton, Alma, Moroni, and Samuel the Lamanite

There’s a pattern in scripture that I never really saw before…

Not until I slowed down and just read it without assumptions.

👉 Some of the most important people in the Book of Mormon
didn’t stay inside the system.

They stepped outside of it.

And when I started reading the Nemenhah Records…

that pattern didn’t go away.

👉 It actually became clearer.

📖 1. Corianton & Isabel — A Story Most People Miss

Most people know this part:

👉 Corianton “went after the harlot Isabel”

📘 Book of Mormon

“Thou didst go on unto boasting… and didst forsake the ministry, and did go over into the land of Siron among the borders of the Lamanites, after the harlot Isabel.”
— Alma 39:3

And that’s usually where we stop.

But Alma doesn’t treat this like a lost cause.

👉 He goes after his son.

📘 What Alma Does Next

Alma leaves the judgment seat earlier (Alma 4:15)
so he can go preach and reclaim people personally

And with Corianton…

👉 He doesn’t crush him. Alma listened to the rumors and believed them over his son.
👉 He teaches him. Then leaves the people. Not sure were he went but some believe to the Pacific Northwest.

The plan of redemption (Alma 40)
The resurrection (Alma 41)
Justice and mercy (Alma 42)

🪶 Nemenhah Perspective

From the Nemenhah teachings:

“Judge not the soul in its wandering, for many who stray are being prepared for a greater return.”

“The Peacemaker reclaimeth His own, line upon line, and none are lost who turn again.”

Isabel become pure. And from her and Corianton's line came Samuel the Lamanite when leaving in the Great Lakes area.

👉 Same pattern:

Falling doesn’t disqualify you
Wandering isn’t the end
Return is the whole point

🧭 What Most People Miss

This wasn’t just about sin.

👉 This was about someone leaving the path… and being brought back personally

Not through a system.

👉 Through truth.

👉 Through love.

👉 Through the Savior's Love

📖 2. Alma — Leaving Power to Save Souls

This one changed how I see leadership.

📘 Book of Mormon

“Alma… seeing the wickedness of the church… he relinquished the judgment-seat… and went forth among his people.”
— Alma 4:15

Think about that.

👉 He walked away from authority
👉 To go minister one-on-one

🪶 Nemenhah Parallel

“Let no man cling to the seat of power when the people perish, but go among them and lift them.”

“The true minister walketh with the people, not above them.”

👉 That hit me.

Because it flips everything:

Not authority first
Not position first

👉 People first.

📖 3. Samuel the Lamanite — The Outsider Prophet

Now this one…

This one is impossible to ignore.

📘 Book of Mormon

“Samuel, a Lamanite, came into the land of Zarahemla… and began to preach unto the people.”
— Helaman 13:2

And what happens?

👉 They reject him.

“They cast stones at him upon the wall… but they could not hit him.”
— Helaman 16:2

🧭 Let that sink in

He wasn’t one of them
He wasn’t authorized by them
He wasn’t accepted by them

👉 And he was still sent by God.

🪶 Nemenhah Alignment

“The voice of warning shall come from those not counted among the rulers… and the people shall reject them.”

“The Peacemaker sendeth whom He will, and not whom men approve.”

👉 Same pattern:

God doesn’t only speak through institutions
He sends messengers people don’t expect

📖 4. Moroni — The Last Witness Who Walked Alone

This one might be the most powerful.

Moroni watched:

👉 His entire civilization collapse

📘 Book of Mormon

“I, Moroni… have not friends nor whither to go.”
— Mormon 8:3

“I write unto my brethren, the Lamanites… and also unto the Jews and Gentiles.”
— Mormon 8:23

👉 He wasn’t leading anymore.

👉 He was preserving truth.

Alone.

🪶 Nemenhah Insight

The Nemenhah teachings describe something similar:

“When the nations fall, the record keepers shall go among the humble and preserve the words.”

“The last witnesses shall not stand in power, but in loneliness, carrying truth forward.”

👉 That’s Moroni.

Not a leader of a system…

👉 A keeper of truth.

📖 5. A Pattern You Can’t Unsee

When you put all this together:

👉 Corianton and Isabel

Leaves → They both are reclaimed personally. His words and story in the Nemenhah Records

👉 Alma

Leaves power → ministers directly

👉 Samuel

Comes from outside → rejected by the system

👉 Moroni

Left alone → preserves truth outside everything

🧭 What’s the pattern?

👉 God is not limited to systems

👉 Truth is not preserved by power

👉 The most important moments happen:

One-on-one
Outside structure
In humility
In quiet obedience

🪶 Where the Nemenhah Records Fit

This is what caught my attention…

The Nemenhah don’t describe a dominant civilization.

👉 They describe a people who stepped away

Small groups
Quiet communities
Not seeking control
Trying to live in peace

Almost like…

👉 The continuation of people who didn’t want to lose the covenant.

🕊️ Final Thought

I’m not here to convince anyone.

I’m not here to tear anything down.

I’m just saying this:

👉 When I read these stories now…

I don’t see institutions.

I see people.

A father going after his son
A man leaving power to serve
A prophet rejected for telling truth
A lone witness preserving light

And I ask myself:

👉 “Would I recognize them… if they showed up today?”

Because they probably wouldn’t look like what we expect.
