πŸ“ When Things Don’t Add Up… What Do We Do?

πŸ“ When Things Don’t Add Up… What Do We Do?

There was a time when I thought if I just studied enough…

I’d be able to answer everything.

Church history.
Polygamy.
Section 132.
All of it.

I thought if I could just figure it all out…

then I’d finally feel settled.

🧭 But Something Changed

Lately, I’ve been looking at things a little differently.

I listened to a presentation about concubinage…

And I’ll be honest—it raised real questions.

Not emotional ones.

Just honest ones.

Because when you look at it historically…
and then you read what Christ taught…
and then you read Jacob in the Book of Mormon…

Sometimes things don’t seem to line up clean.

And the question comes:

“What do I do with that?”

🌱 I Used to Think I Had to Solve It

I used to think:

πŸ‘‰ I need to defend everything
or
πŸ‘‰ I need to tear it down

But now…

I don’t feel that same pressure.

🧠 Because Here’s What I’m Starting to See

There are things in history…

There are things in records…

There are things in traditions…

πŸ‘‰ that don’t always add up the way we were taught.

And that’s okay to admit.

That doesn’t mean everything is false.

But it also doesn’t mean everything is exactly right either.

πŸ•Š️ So What Matters Most?

This is where it shifted for me.

Instead of asking:

“Who was right?”
“Who was wrong?”
“Which version is correct?”

I started asking:

πŸ‘‰ “What did Christ actually teach?”

✝️ And When I Go There…

It gets simple again.

  • One flesh
  • Unity
  • No domination
  • Protect the hearts of women and children
  • Come directly to Him

That pattern is consistent.

πŸͺΆ Then I Looked at Something Else

In the Nemenhah records…

We saw something very different.

Not control.

Not hierarchy.

Not forced structure.

But:

πŸ‘‰ Direct relationship with the Peacemaker
πŸ‘‰ Stewardship instead of authority
πŸ‘‰ Men and women walking side by side
πŸ‘‰ People living what they’re taught

Not just attending it.

Living it.

πŸ”₯ And That’s When This Thought Hit Me

Maybe the question isn’t:

“Why doesn’t the Church fix everything?”

Maybe the question is:

πŸ‘‰ “Are we ready to live differently when things shift?”

🌎 Because Let’s Be Honest

The world we’ve known…

Doesn’t feel as stable as it used to.

Systems don’t feel as solid.

Things that once felt permanent…

don’t feel that way anymore.

And whether people call it a reset…
or shaking…
or something else…

πŸ‘‰ You can feel something changing.

🧭 And If That’s True…

Then arguing every detail of the past…

might not be the most important thing.

🌿 What Might Matter More Is This

If things were simplified…

If structures fell away…

If all you had left was:

πŸ‘‰ your relationship with Christ
πŸ‘‰ your ability to hear Him
πŸ‘‰ your willingness to live what He teaches

Would you be ready?

πŸ•Š️ That Feels Like the Real Preparation

Not winning arguments.

Not proving history.

But becoming the kind of person who can live Zion.

Because Zion isn’t something you move to.

πŸ‘‰ It’s something you become.

🀍 A Quiet Place I’ve Landed

So when I see things now—like the questions around concubinage…

I don’t feel the need to fight it out.

I just note it:

πŸ‘‰ “That doesn’t seem to match Christ.”

And then I come back to Him.

🌾 Final Thought

We may not be able to fix institutions.

We may not be able to answer every historical question.

But we can do this:

πŸ‘‰ Go to Him
πŸ‘‰ Listen
πŸ‘‰ Live what He shows us

And if things really are shifting…

That’s the only thing that’s going to matter anyway.
