The Book of Mormon Continues

❓ The Question
When Moroni buried the plates, did the story end?
Most of us have always assumed it did.
We close the last page of the Book of Mormon.
We read Moroni's final testimony.
Then we believe the history is finished.
But is it?
Or is that simply where our record ends?
The Book of Mormon itself leaves unanswered questions.
What became of Hagoth's people?
What happened to the descendants of Corianton?
Did Samuel the Lamanite's family disappear from history?
Did Moroni simply vanish after burying the plates?
Or...
Did God preserve another witness?
Those questions stayed with me.
Then I discovered something I had never expected.
📜 The Bible
Throughout the Bible, God preserves records through many generations.
He remembers covenants.
He preserves lineages.
He raises prophets after prophets.
God's story never stops because one prophet dies.
The work continues.
📘 The Book of Mormon
The Book of Mormon closes with Moroni's farewell.
Yet Moroni never says God's work has ended.
Instead he points every future reader toward Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost.
Then...
The record becomes silent.
Not because God stopped speaking.
But because the plates were finished.
Those are two very different things.
👤 Joseph Smith's Teachings
Joseph Smith never taught that all sacred history had already been revealed.
He expected much more.
"We believe... He will yet reveal many great and important things..."
Joseph expected the Restoration to continue unfolding.
🏛️ Official LDS Scriptures and Teachings
The Restoration teaches continuing revelation.
Living prophets.
Personal revelation.
Future gathering.
Future Zion.
The work is still moving forward.
🪶 The Nemenhah Sacred Records
This is where my entire perspective changed.
The Nemenhah do not begin a new story.
They continue one.
📖 Hahgohtl 1:1–13
Hahgohtl identifies himself as the son of Tsihblohn and explains that sacred records were copied and carried north so the people would "not dwindle in unbelief." The preservation of the record itself becomes part of God's continuing work.
📖 The First Book of Tsi Muhayl 8:1–13
One of the most surprising discoveries is that Kohrayahntohn (Corianton) and Itsahbehl (Isabel) are portrayed as living among the northern people. Rather than disappearing from history after Alma's account, their lives continue and influence later generations.
📖 The Book of Mohrhohnahyah
Instead of disappearing after burying the plates, Mohrhohnahyah (Moroni) is given an entire book describing his continued ministry among the Nemenhah people. Whether a reader accepts that claim is a matter of personal revelation, but the record unmistakably presents his story as continuing.
📖 Mehniohsahrihk 1:4–10
The record speaks of sacred libraries being preserved and of the Peacemaker bringing forth books, raising up prophets, and continuing the work until the records are restored.
Suddenly I realized something.
The Nemenhah weren't trying to replace the Book of Mormon.
They were asking:
"What if the story never ended?"
💎 Great Discovery
The greatest discovery wasn't another doctrine.
It was another chapter.
The Nemenhah present themselves as the continuation of Book of Mormon history among a covenant people who preserved sacred records, remembered Jesus Christ, and awaited the latter-day Restoration.
If true...
The Book of Mormon did not end.
Only the plates did.

This was the moment everything changed for me.
I wasn't looking for another church.
I wasn't looking for another religion.
I was looking for answers to questions the Book of Mormon had left in my heart.
The Nemenhah didn't answer every question.
But they asked me to consider something I had never considered before.
What if Moroni's work didn't end when the plates were buried?
That question sent me back to the scriptures with fresh eyes.

- Why do the Nemenhah continue the stories of Moroni and Corianton?
- Could these records represent another witness of God's continuing work?

Compare them carefully.
Then ask God if there is more He would have you understand.
