Video 94........ ๐ฟ The Records I Found After the Book of Mormon
๐ฟ The Records I Found After the Book of Mormon
What the Nemenhah Records Have Taught Me About Christ, Zion, and the Holy Ghost
By The True Remnant
This morning I woke up with a simple question.
What has really changed my life?
Not what has interested me.
Not what has occupied my time.
Not what has sparked my curiosity.
What has truly changed me?
The answer came almost immediately.
✝️ Jesus Christ.
Everything else is secondary.
Everything.
But as I sat thinking about that answer, another thought came.
There is one collection of writings that has repeatedly pointed me back toward Him.
The Nemenhah Records.
Today I want to tell you why.
Not to convince you.
Not to argue.
Not to prove anything.
Just to share my journey.
Pull up a chair on the porch for a few minutes.
๐ The Mystery of Hagoth
One of the great mysteries in the Book of Mormon is a man named Hagoth.
Most readers pass right over him.
Yet his story has fascinated me for years.
๐ Alma 63:5
"And it came to pass that Hagoth, he being an exceedingly curious man, therefore he went forth and built him an exceedingly large ship..."
Then something remarkable happens.
People board the ships.
They sail northward.
One ship never returns.
Then another.
And suddenly...
the record grows silent.
๐ค What happened to those people?
๐ค Where did they go?
๐ค Did their story simply disappear?
Or does the story continue somewhere else?
The Nemenhah Records claim that the story continued.
Whether you ultimately accept that claim or not is a decision only you can make.
But for me, the possibility was fascinating.
Because the Lord often provides more than one witness.
๐ก️ What About the Anti-Nephi-Lehies?
The same question applies to another beloved group in the Book of Mormon.
The Anti-Nephi-Lehies.
These were people who buried their weapons rather than shed blood.
People who chose covenant over revenge.
People whose faith inspired the Stripling Warriors.
๐ Alma 24:19
"They buried their weapons of peace... because of their faith in Christ."
The Book of Mormon tells us they eventually moved northward.
Then once again...
the story becomes quiet.
Where did they go?
What became of their descendants?
The Nemenhah traditions preserve memories of covenant peoples living throughout North America.
Again, I find myself wondering.
Could there be connections?
I don't know.
But I do find the possibility fascinating.
๐บ What I Felt in Hawaii
A few months ago, Hiroko and I traveled to Hawaii for our granddaughter's wedding.
What happened there stayed with me.
Not because of the ceremony.
Not because of the scenery.
Not because of the food.
It was the people.
Everywhere I looked, people were helping each other.
Families helping families.
Neighbors helping neighbors.
Everyone pitching in.
Everyone contributing.
Nobody seemed concerned about who received credit.
The Aloha Spirit was alive.
As I watched, I found myself thinking about Zion.
I found myself thinking about covenant communities.
I found myself thinking about Hagoth.
Could some distant memories of those ancient peoples still survive?
Maybe.
Maybe not.
But I know what I felt.
❤️ Love.
๐ค Unity.
๐ฟ Service.
๐ก Community.
And those are exactly the kinds of things the Nemenhah Records teach.
๐ชถ Moroni's Medicine Wheel
One of the teachings that affected me most deeply was Moroni's teaching of the Medicine Wheel.
Most Christians picture spiritual growth like a ladder.
๐ช Step 1.
๐ช Step 2.
๐ช Step 3.
Climb high enough and eventually you arrive.
The Medicine Wheel teaches something different.
⭕ A circle.
⭕ A journey.
⭕ A lifetime of growth.
The goal isn't to become perfect overnight.
The goal is to become slightly better today than yesterday.
Then do it again tomorrow.
And the next day.
And the next.
The older I get, the more I believe that is exactly how the Lord works with us.
Line upon line.
Grace upon grace.
One lesson at a time.
๐ฅ The Baptism of Fire
Now I want to tell you something personal.
Many years ago, I experienced what I can only describe as a baptism of fire.
Words are inadequate.
For a brief time, I felt the love of God flowing through every fiber of my being.
Light.
Love.
Peace.
Joy.
Everything seemed alive.
Everything seemed filled with God's presence.
It was more real than ordinary life.
Ever since that day, I have used that experience as a compass.
Not because I worship experiences.
But because I know what I felt.
When I study something, I ask:
๐ฟ Does it bring me closer to Christ?
๐ฟ Does it increase charity?
๐ฟ Does it increase humility?
๐ฟ Does it help me hear His voice?
That has become my measuring stick.
☀️ The Holy Ghost
Over the years my understanding of the Holy Ghost has become more personal.
When I stand outside and feel the warmth of the sun on my face, I often think about Christ.
I cannot look directly into the sun.
Its glory is too bright.
Yet I can feel its warmth.
Its influence reaches me.
Its light reaches me.
Its life reaches me.
In a similar way, I cannot see the Savior with my natural eyes.
But I can feel His influence through the Holy Ghost.
The Nemenhah Records repeatedly point people toward that living connection.
Not dependence upon men.
Not dependence upon institutions.
Dependence upon Christ.
๐ก The Blueprint of Zion
If I had to summarize the Nemenhah Records in one phrase, it would be this:
๐ฟ A Blueprint for Zion.
Again and again they teach:
❤️ Charity
๐ค Unity
๐️ Peace
๐ฅ Baptism of Fire
☀️ Holy Ghost
๐ Hearing His Voice
๐ก No Poor Among Them
These are the same principles found throughout the Book of Mormon.
The same principles taught by Jesus.
The same principles that create Zion.
๐ฟ What I Know Now
Reasonable people will disagree about these records.
I understand that.
Every person must seek their own witness.
But I can tell you what they have done for me.
They have strengthened my faith.
They have increased my love for the Book of Mormon.
They have expanded my vision of Zion.
Most importantly...
They have pointed me repeatedly back to Jesus Christ.
And after all the books...
After all the questions...
After all the years...
That is what matters most.
✝️ Christ is the answer.
He always was.
He always will be.
Everything worthwhile eventually points back to Him.

๐ฟ What the Nemenhah Records Actually Teach
Sometimes people ask me:
"What is it that you find so valuable in the Nemenhah Records?"
That's a fair question.
If I had to summarize hundreds of pages into a few simple ideas, it would be this:
The Nemenhah Records are a blueprint for building Zion.
Not merely a future city.
Not merely a gathering place.
Not merely a prophecy.
A people.
A way of living.
A way of becoming.
Again and again, the records return to the same themes.
✝️ 1. Hear the Voice of Christ
Perhaps no message appears more often.
The records repeatedly teach that every soul must learn to hear the voice of the Savior for themselves.
Not simply rely upon leaders.
Not simply rely upon traditions.
Not simply rely upon institutions.
The Lord desires a personal relationship with His children.
The Iron Rod is not merely words on a page.
It is the living voice of Christ guiding us day by day.
๐ (Found throughout the teachings of Timothy, Moroni, and the Peacemaker traditions.)
๐ฅ 2. Seek the Baptism of Fire
The records place tremendous emphasis upon receiving the Holy Ghost and experiencing the mighty change of heart.
Not merely being religious.
Not merely attending meetings.
Not merely belonging to a group.
But being transformed.
Changed.
Filled with heavenly love.
Filled with light.
Filled with charity.
Filled with Christ.
๐ (A major theme throughout Timothy, Moroni, and many of the sacred teachings.)
❤️ 3. Charity Is the Real Test
The records repeatedly return to charity.
Not knowledge.
Not position.
Not status.
Not authority.
Love.
How we treat one another.
How we serve one another.
How we forgive one another.
How we care for one another.
In many ways, the records teach that charity is the very foundation of Zion.
๐ (Especially emphasized throughout Moroni's teachings and the Zion instructions.)
๐ก 4. Zion Has No Poor Among Them
The records teach that Zion is not built merely through meetings.
It is built through caring for one another.
Through consecration.
Through generosity.
Through sacrifice.
Through removing pride and selfishness.
A Zion people do not ask:
"What belongs to me?"
They ask:
"How can I help?"
๐ (A recurring theme throughout the Zion Council teachings and community instructions.)
๐ฉ 5. Strong Families Build Strong Zion
One of the unique teachings found throughout the Nemenhah Records is the sacred role of mothers and fathers.
Again and again, mothers are shown teaching faith, preserving wisdom, protecting future generations, and helping guide communities.
The records teach that Zion begins in the home long before it appears in society.
๐ (Seen throughout many historical narratives and family teachings.)
๐ชถ 6. Councils Instead of Control
The Nemenhah pattern is remarkably different from worldly systems.
Rather than domination, the records emphasize councils.
Rather than control, they emphasize persuasion.
Rather than force, they emphasize common consent.
The goal is not power.
The goal is unity.
๐ (Found throughout the governance and council teachings.)
⭕ 7. The Medicine Wheel: Lifelong Growth
One of my favorite teachings is the Medicine Wheel.
Rather than climbing a ladder once and declaring ourselves finished, the wheel teaches continual growth.
Returning.
Learning.
Repenting.
Improving.
Growing stronger with each pass.
The journey never really ends.
We simply become more Christlike as we continue walking.
๐ (Most clearly associated with Moroni's teachings.)
๐ 8. Gather a Zion People
The records consistently look forward to a future Zion.
Not merely a place.
A people prepared to receive Christ.
A people who hear His voice.
A people filled with charity.
A people united in heart.
A people prepared to live celestial laws.
In many ways, everything in the Nemenhah Records points toward this goal.
Preparing a people for the return of the Savior.
If I had to summarize the entire Nemenhah message in one sentence, it might be this:
๐ฟ Come unto Christ, receive the Holy Ghost, learn charity, hear His voice, and help build Zion.
