“How to Hear the Savior in the Middle of Your Storm”
(Based on Video #4 — “Talk With Jesus Daily” Series)
Hello friends.
It’s just me again… an old man from the sticks… sitting at a little wooden desk with a Bible open, a Book of Mormon on the side, and a heart that’s been broken a few too many times — but healed by the Savior every single time. π️
Today I want to talk with you about something real…
something every one of us faces…
how to hear Jesus when life turns dark.
When the wind rises.
When the waves are bigger than your faith feels.
Because Video 4 in this series — the one we’re walking through today — is all about hearing the Savior in the storm.
And brother… sister… we’re all in a storm right now.
As a nation, as a church, as families.
As disciples.
So let’s walk through this together.
π©️ 1) The Storm Always Comes Before the Revelation
You remember the story:
“And straightway Jesus constrained His disciples to get into a ship…”
— Matthew 14:22–33
Jesus sent them into the storm.
Not to punish them.
But to meet them.
And that’s how He works with us.
The Nemenhah say the same thing — that the Peacemaker always tests a people before He reveals the next great step.
And the Book of Mormon?
Same pattern:
“After ye have received the light… ye must press forward through trial.”
— 2 Nephi 31:19–20
Storm → Light
Trial → Revelation
Fear → Faith
It’s the rhythm of discipleship.
π―️ 2) Jesus Doesn’t Yell Over the Storm — He Speaks Through It
This is the heart of Video 4.
We want the Savior to still the waves…
…but He often wants to still us.
Remember Elijah?
“The Lord was not in the wind… nor the earthquake… nor the fire…
but in a still small voice.”
— 1 Kings 19:11–13
That’s how He talks.
Quietly.
Gently.
Personally.
The Nemenhah say:
“The Peacemaker whispers in the heart of the humble,
and those who quiet their fears shall hear Him.”
Isn’t that beautiful?
It’s true.
π¦Ά 3) Peter Walked on Water… Until He Looked at the Wrong Thing
This part always hits me right in the gut.
The moment Peter looked at the waves…
he sank.
But when he looked at Jesus…
he walked on the impossible.
That’s us.
Every day.
Look at the storm → sink
Look at the headlines → sink
Look at church turmoil → sink
Look at your own weaknesses → sink
But look at Jesus?
You’ll walk on top of the very thing that threatened to drown you.
Video 4 is all about that shift —
from fear to focus,
from distraction to devotion,
from noise to voice.
π¬ 4) The Savior’s Voice Has a Signature Sound
I said it in the video and I’ll say it again:
His voice brings peace.
Always.
Even when He corrects, it’s with peace.
Even when He calls you to repent, it’s with love.
Jesus said:
“My sheep hear My voice.”
— John 10:27
But He also promised:
“I will go before your face.
I will be on your right hand and on your left…
and My Spirit shall be in your heart.”
— D&C 84:88
That’s the signature.
That’s His “tone.”
That’s how you know it’s Him.
If it brings fear?
Noise.
If it brings guilt without hope?
Noise.
If it tears down your soul?
Noise.
If it brings clarity, calm, direction, and love?
That’s Him.
π 5) The Nemenhah Pattern: Quiet, Trust, Obey, Repeat
One of my favorite consistent teachings from the Nemenhah is simple:
“Still your heart, ask, and walk in the way He whispers.”
They teach that hearing the Peacemaker is a daily walk,
a daily practice,
a daily choosing.
Video 4 fits right into that ancient pattern:
Sit down and breathe.
Speak His name.
Listen more than you talk.
Write down what He whispers.
Walk it out.
That’s how the Nemenhah lived.
That’s how Nephi lived.
That’s how disciples live.
π₯ 6) Your Storm Is the Place Where Your Testimony Becomes Yours
Anyone can believe when the sun is shining.
But faith forged in storms?
That’s Zion faith.
That’s Last Days faith.
That’s the faith of the Remnant.
The Book of Mormon promises:
“If ye will come unto Me, I will show unto you your weakness…
and make weak things strong.”
— Ether 12:27
Storms expose weakness.
Jesus transforms it.
π 7) What Jesus Wants You to Know Today
Here’s the message of Video 4 in one line:
You are not alone in your storm —
and the Savior is already walking toward you.
He’s on the water.
He’s in the wind.
He’s in the whisper.
He’s in the peace that keeps showing up where it shouldn’t.
All you have to say is:
“Lord, save me.”
And immediately —
immediately —
He reaches out.
Just like He did for Peter.
