πͺΆ Part 4 — What If Authority Was Never What We Thought?
(Keys, Power… and the Voice We Actually Follow)
π Part 4 of the series Are We Afraid of Truth?
(Go to the blog homepage and search the title π)
This is the part I didn’t rush into.
Honestly… I avoided it for a while.
Because once you start asking about authority…
you’re stepping into something serious.
π± What I Was Taught
I grew up understanding authority like this:
- God gives authority to prophets
- That authority is passed down
- If you follow that line… you’re safe
It was simple.
Clear.
And honestly… comforting.
⚖️ But Then I Noticed Something
Over time…
I started seeing a pattern.
- Teachings that later changed
- Direction that was adjusted
- Confidence… followed by correction
And I found myself asking a quiet question:
“If authority is always perfect… why does it shift like this?”
π§ The Question Became Personal
This wasn’t about pointing fingers.
It was about understanding something deeper:
π What is authority, really?
Is it:
- a position?
- a title?
- a line of succession?
Or is it something more than that?
π️ Christ’s Pattern Looked Different
When I went back to the Savior…
He didn’t focus on titles.
He focused on:
- hearing His voice
- being led by the Spirit
- doing the will of the Father
Even in His day…
people had authority.
And still… things weren’t always right.
π️ A Quiet Shift
Something began to settle in me.
Very quietly.
π You can have structure… without power
π You can have position… without alignment
π You can have authority claims… without the Spirit
That’s not easy to say.
But it’s real.
π What I Started to See
Authority began to feel different.
Less like:
π something you follow automatically
More like:
π something you recognize
π± How Do You Recognize It?
Not by:
- titles
- positions
- or claims
But by:
π the Spirit
π the fruits
π the voice of Christ
π️ A Simpler Way
This is where I’ve landed.
Instead of asking:
π “Who has authority?”
I now ask:
π “Where is Christ leading?”
And then I follow that.
πͺΆ Not Rejecting… Just Understanding
I’m not saying everything is wrong.
Not at all.
I believe:
- God still works through people
- He still blesses effort
- He still guides sincere hearts
But I also see this clearly now:
π structure doesn’t guarantee authority
π and authority doesn’t guarantee truth
❤️ One Line to Take With You
True authority isn’t claimed…
it’s recognized by the Spirit.
