The Way — Not a System, But a Voice

๐Ÿ•Š️ The Way — Not a System, But a Voice

Yesterday in Fast and Testimony meeting, a dear Sister stood and said something simple.

One word.

The Way.

And it stayed with me.

Not because it was new…
but because it’s been there all along.

In the scriptures.
In quiet moments.
In the things we feel more than we can explain.

And yet somehow…

we still make it complicated.

๐Ÿ“– The Way Has Always Been There

Jesus didn’t say He would show us the way.

He said:

“I am the way…” — John 14:6

In the early days, people weren’t even called Christians.

They were called:

followers of the Way.

Not followers of a system.
Not followers of structure.

Followers of Him.

๐Ÿ“˜ The Book of Mormon Describes a Walk

Nephi didn’t describe arrival.

He described movement.

A path.

A direction.

After baptism…
after commitment…

you don’t arrive.

You continue.

Step by step.

Quietly.

๐Ÿ”ฅ When People Didn’t Want the Way

In Sunday School, we talked about the children of Israel.

They had a chance to hear God directly.

And they said:

“Moses… you go talk to Him.”

Not because they were wicked.

Because they were afraid.

And from that moment forward…

they were given laws
instead of presence.

๐Ÿชถ And If I’m Honest…

I’ve seen that same pattern in my own life.

It’s easier to:

  • listen to a talk
  • follow a program
  • repeat something I’ve heard

than to sit quietly…

and listen for Him.

๐Ÿค What The Way Really Is

The Way is not loud.

It’s not forced.

It’s not complicated.

It’s this:

๐Ÿ‘‰ The Savior… standing closer than you think…
and learning to hear Him.

Not once.

Not in a big moment.

But daily.

๐Ÿค Repentance Might Not Be What We Think

Growing up, I thought repentance meant:

  • feeling bad enough
  • fixing everything
  • proving I was serious

But over time… something shifted.

Repentance isn’t shame.

It’s not earning anything.

It’s this:

๐Ÿ‘‰ Turning toward Someone who is already standing right next to you.

Not far away.

Not waiting.

Not keeping score.

Right there.

The Savior never stood at a distance
asking people to clean themselves up first.

He stood with them.

And then gently said:

“Go… and sin no more.”

Not as pressure.

As invitation.

๐Ÿ•Š️ A Reminder From Our Day

In one of his first major addresses after becoming president,
Dallin H. Oaks pointed back to something simple.

He taught that the way to overcome doubt…

is to come closer to Jesus Christ.

And then reminded us of what the Savior has always said:

He is the way.

That stayed with me.

Because that doesn’t sound complicated.

It sounds… personal.

๐ŸŒฟ A Pattern I Didn’t Expect

Recently, I searched one word in the Nemenhah record.

“Way.”

And it showed up again…
and again…
and again…

Not just as a word.

But as a direction.

A call.

One line stood out:

“Cease not… to make strait the Way of the Peacemaker…”

That felt familiar.

Because I had already seen it before.

In the Bible.

In the Book of Mormon.

And now here again.

Different records.
Different times.

Same invitation.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Walk with Him.

๐Ÿ•Š️ The Shift Most People Miss

Most people think the problem is sin.

So they try harder.

Do more.

Fix everything.

But over time, I’ve learned something different.

๐Ÿ‘‰ The problem usually isn’t sin.

๐Ÿ‘‰ It’s noise.

Noise in the mind.
Noise in the world.
Noise in the need to control.

And when the noise settles…

something changes.

๐ŸŒฟ A Simple Invitation

Try this tonight.

No script.

No pressure.

Just sit.

Be still.

And say quietly:

“Lord… I’m here.”

And then…

listen.

๐Ÿชถ Closing Thought

The Way was never meant to be followed from a distance.

It was meant to be walked…

with Him.
