Video 79 --- π Why It’s Hard to Hear Christ Today
π Why It’s Hard to Hear Christ Today
The other morning I woke up at about three o’clock and started connecting a lot of things I’ve been studying for years.
Scriptures.
Chiasmus.
The Doctrine of Christ.
Learning to listen for the Savior.
All of it seemed to come together in a way that made me smile.
But one question kept coming back to me.
Why is it so hard for people today to hear Christ?
I don’t think it’s because the Savior stopped speaking.
I think it’s because the world got very loud.
πΊ The Noise Around Us
Think about the world we live in now.
We are surrounded by noise every single day.
• television
• social media
• political arguments
• religious debates
• constant news.
Everybody has an opinion.
Everybody has a platform.
Everybody wants to convince you of something.
And somewhere inside all that noise is the quiet voice of Christ.
The problem is not that He stopped speaking.
The problem is that we stopped listening.
π¬ The Still Small Voice
One thing I’ve noticed in scripture is that the Lord rarely competes with noise.
He usually speaks quietly.
Not with pressure.
Not with force.
Just a gentle nudge.
Sometimes it comes as a thought.
Sometimes as a feeling.
Sometimes as a scripture that suddenly stands out.
But you have to slow down to notice it.
⛪ When Religion Gets Loud Too
Now here’s something interesting.
Sometimes even religion can become part of the noise.
People start arguing about:
• doctrines
• traditions
• policies
• leaders
• history.
And before long the focus moves away from the Savior Himself.
It becomes more about defending positions than following Christ.
That happens more often than we like to admit.
π§ The Simplicity of the Gospel
When I go back and read the Savior’s actual teachings, something stands out.
They are incredibly simple.
Repent.
Love God.
Love your neighbor.
Follow me.
That’s it.
No complicated systems.
No endless debates.
Just a path.
πΆ Walking Instead of Arguing
I’ve noticed something over the years.
People who spend all their time arguing about religion often feel frustrated.
But people who simply try to walk with Christ tend to feel peaceful.
They pray.
They read.
They try to improve.
They try to love people.
They keep moving forward.
It’s not flashy.
But it works.
πͺΆ A Talking Feather Thought
One thing I’ve learned is that you don’t need to win arguments to share truth.
You just share what you’ve seen.
If someone asks a question, you answer.
If they’re searching, you point them toward Christ.
If they’re not ready yet, you let the Lord work with them.
Truth has a way of finding people when the time is right.
π A Simple Experiment
If you want to try something interesting, here’s a simple experiment.
Turn off the noise for a little while.
Put the phone down.
Step away from the endless debates.
Open the scriptures.
Say a quiet prayer.
Then just listen.
You might be surprised how often the Savior’s voice shows up when the world finally gets quiet.
