๐ฟ Follow the Voice
๐ฟ Follow the Voice
The Most Important Decision We Will Ever Make
Hello, my friends.
It's just me again...
...the old man on the porch.
If I could leave my children and grandchildren with only one lesson...
only one...
I think it would simply be this:
Learn to recognize His voice.
Not my voice.
Not your favorite preacher's voice.
Not the loudest voice on the internet.
Not even the traditions you've inherited.
His voice.
Because every other decision in life flows from that one.
๐ฟ We live in a world full of voices.
Some are sincere.
Some are wise.
Some are fearful.
Some are angry.
Some promise safety.
Some promise prosperity.
Some promise certainty.
If we listen long enough, they can all begin to sound convincing.
But Jesus said something wonderfully simple:
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me."
(John 10:27)
Notice what He didn't say.
He didn't say His sheep know every answer.
He didn't say they belong to the right organization.
He didn't say they never make mistakes.
He said...
They know His voice.
❤️ That's how the Lord has always led His people.
Think about the scriptures.
Noah followed a voice.
Abraham followed a voice.
Moses followed a voice.
Samuel heard his name in the night.
The Brother of Jared followed a voice.
Nephi followed a voice.
Joseph Smith walked into a grove because he followed a quiet whisper that God would answer sincere prayer.
Again and again, God did not begin by handing people a complete roadmap.
He invited them to trust Him one step at a time.
๐ฟ The Iron Rod
For years I pictured the iron rod as simply holding tightly to a book.
But over time, the Lord gently taught me something deeper.
The scriptures matter because they teach us how to recognize His voice.
The Holy Ghost doesn't replace the scriptures.
The scriptures don't replace the Holy Ghost.
They work together.
The written word teaches us to recognize the Living Word.
That changes everything.
๐ What if hearing Him is the real goal?
Sometimes we spend so much energy asking:
"What church?"
"What program?"
"What leader?"
"What movement?"
Those questions have their place.
But perhaps the greater question is this:
"Lord... what are You saying to me today?"
When we learn to hear Him, fear begins to lose its power.
Confusion begins to fade.
Not because every question disappears...
but because we know Who is leading us.
๐ฟ Zion begins with listening.
Every song in this collection...
Every blog...
Every scripture...
Every story...
has one purpose.
Not to point people to me.
Not even to point people to a movement.
But to point people to Jesus Christ.
If these songs help someone recognize His voice a little more clearly...
then they have accomplished exactly what I hoped they would.
❤️ A simple invitation
Today...
find a quiet place.
Turn off the noise.
Open the scriptures.
Pray.
Listen.
You may not hear thunder.
You may not see angels.
You may simply feel a quiet impression that brings peace.
Don't overlook those moments.
The Good Shepherd still speaks.
And His sheep still know His voice.
๐ต This blog accompanies my song, "Follow the Voice."
If the music touched your heart, I invite you to spend a few quiet moments with the scriptures and ask the Savior to help you recognize His voice more clearly.
That one prayer may change the rest of your life.
Until next time...
Keep listening.
