๐ŸŒฟ The Steward's Song

You might enjoy this NEW Song of Zion:   The Steward's Song

We Never Really Own Anything

Hello, my friends.

It's just me again...

...the old man on the porch.

As I've grown older, I've noticed something.

The older I get...

the less I feel like I own anything.

The house I live in...

One day someone else will live there.

The truck I drive...

Someone else will drive it.

The money I save...

Someone else will eventually spend it.

Even this old body I've walked around in for so many years...

I'll return that too.

Maybe that's one of life's greatest lessons.

We don't really own very much.

We've simply been trusted with it—for a little while.

๐ŸŒฟ The Lord calls us stewards.

Jesus often spoke about stewardship.

In His parables, servants were entrusted with vineyards, talents, fields, and responsibilities.

One day the Master returned and simply asked:

"What did you do with what I entrusted to you?"

That question reaches far beyond money.

It reaches into every corner of life.

❤️ What has God entrusted to me?

My wife.

My family.

My grandchildren.

My friends.

My neighbors.

My time.

My abilities.

My words.

Even the quiet opportunities to encourage someone who is struggling.

These are not possessions.

They are sacred trusts.

๐ŸŒ„ Stewardship is one of the foundations of Zion.

One reason Zion has "no poor among them" is because people stop asking,

"What belongs to me?"

and begin asking,

"How can I faithfully care for what God has placed in my hands?"

When we see ourselves as owners...

fear often follows.

We become protective.

Possessive.

Competitive.

But when we see ourselves as stewards...

gratitude grows.

Generosity grows.

Peace grows.

๐ŸŒฟ Even the earth belongs to Him.

The forests.

The rivers.

The mountains.

The wildlife.

The gardens.

The farms.

Scripture reminds us:

"The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof."
(Psalm 24:1)

We are simply caring for His creation until another generation receives it.

That changes the question.

Instead of asking,

"How much can I take?"

Perhaps we should ask,

"How much better can I leave it?"

❤️ The greatest stewardship of all

Perhaps the most sacred thing God has entrusted to us...

is love.

Did we forgive?

Did we encourage?

Did we feed the hungry?

Did we comfort someone who felt alone?

Did we point people toward Jesus Christ?

Those may be the things heaven remembers most.

๐ŸŒฟ A simple invitation

Today...

look around your life.

Ask yourself:

"What has the Lord placed in my care?"

Maybe it's a child.

Maybe it's a marriage.

Maybe it's a lonely neighbor.

Maybe it's a gift you've never shared.

Whatever it is...

care for it well.

Because one day...

we'll hand the keys back to the Master.

My hope is that when He asks what we did with what He entrusted to us...

our lives will answer better than our words ever could.

๐ŸŽต This blog accompanies my song, "The Steward's Song."

My hope is that this song reminds us we are not owners, but caretakers—for a little while.

May we leave behind a little more kindness...

a little more faith...

a little more hope...

and a little more Zion than we found.

Until next time...

Leave it better.
