Video 92 Am I Actually Living With Him?
Am I Actually Living With Him?
๐ฟ A Porch Thought
There comes a point in every spiritual journey when the questions begin to change.
At first, many of us spend years trying to answer the question:
"Is God really there?"
For some, that answer comes quickly.
For others, it takes years.
But eventually, many of us reach a place where the existence of God is no longer the central question.
We've felt things.
Seen things.
Experienced things.
We've watched prayers answered.
We've received guidance we couldn't explain.
We've felt heaven touch our lives in ways that are difficult to deny.
And when that happens, the question changes.
It becomes something deeper.
Something more personal.
The question becomes:
"Am I actually living with Him?"
๐ Belief Is Only the Beginning
Belief matters.
Faith matters.
Trust matters.
But there is a difference between believing in Christ and walking with Christ.
One is an acknowledgment.
The other is a relationship.
Most of us understand this principle in our personal lives.
Knowing someone exists is not the same thing as knowing them.
Reading about them is not the same thing as spending time with them.
And hearing stories about them is not the same thing as walking beside them.
The same is true spiritually.
At some point, discipleship becomes less about proving God exists and more about learning how to recognize Him in daily life.
๐ฟ The Quiet Path
One thing that has surprised me over the years is how quiet this path often becomes.
When we are younger in the gospel, we sometimes expect dramatic experiences.
Big answers.
Big signs.
Big manifestations.
And occasionally those things happen.
But more often, the Lord works through simple moments.
A thought.
A feeling.
A scripture.
A gentle nudge.
A moment of peace.
Something that barely catches our attention until much later.
Then we look back and realize He was there all along.
Not forcing.
Not demanding.
Simply guiding.
๐ My Sheep Hear My Voice
Christ said:
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." (John 10:27)
Notice what He did not say.
He did not say His sheep hear Him once.
He did not say they hear Him only during extraordinary experiences.
He described an ongoing relationship.
A pattern.
A way of life.
The sheep recognize the Shepherd because they have spent enough time listening to know His voice.
Perhaps learning to walk with Christ is not about receiving more revelation.
Perhaps it is about becoming better at recognizing the revelation we are already receiving.
๐ฟ Everyday Guidance
Sometimes we imagine revelation as something reserved for major life decisions.
But many of the Lord's invitations come in ordinary moments.
A prompting to call someone.
A thought to wait.
An impression to apologize.
A feeling to stay a little longer.
A nudge to help.
A reminder to pray.
A scripture that keeps returning to our mind.
These things may seem small.
Yet over time they shape an entire life.
The Holy Ghost often works one step at a time.
Rarely the whole staircase.
Usually just the next step.
๐ The Holy Ghost and Daily Life
Nephi taught:
"The Holy Ghost... will show unto you all things what ye should do." (2 Nephi 32:5)
Not merely some things.
Not merely church things.
All things.
The Lord desires to be involved in every aspect of our lives.
Not because He wants to control us.
But because He loves us.
The Holy Ghost becomes the means by which heaven gently participates in our journey.
The guidance is usually quiet.
But it is real.
๐ฟ Paying Attention
I wonder sometimes if the greatest challenge isn't whether God is speaking.
Maybe the greater challenge is whether we are listening.
Life is noisy.
Schedules are noisy.
Opinions are noisy.
Fear is noisy.
Social media is noisy.
The world constantly competes for our attention.
Meanwhile, the voice of the Spirit remains what it has always been.
Still.
Small.
Patient.
Never forcing.
Always inviting.
๐ A Final Porch Thought
The older I get, the less interested I become in proving things.
And the more interested I become in living them.
I no longer spend much time asking:
"Is God there?"
For me, that question was answered long ago.
The question I ask now is:
"Am I paying attention?"
Am I noticing His invitations?
Am I following the light I have already been given?
Am I learning to recognize His voice in ordinary moments?
Because perhaps the goal was never simply to believe in Christ.
Perhaps the goal has always been to walk with Him.
One impression.
One step.
One day at a time.
And maybe that is enough.
