The Book of Mormon briefly tells us about Hagoth, an exceedingly curious man who built ships and sailed northward.

The Sacred Temples
The Temple Walk of the Nemenhah
Latter-day Saint readers may find much that sounds familiar in the Nemenhah temple record.
The teachings include preparation through prayer and fasting, washing, anointing, instruction, covenants, an endowment of power, and the hope of entering the presence of the Savior.
Yet there is an important emphasis.
The temple experience was not meant to end when someone left the sacred building.
It was meant to become a way of life.
The people were expected to carry the temple walk into their homes, families, councils, work, service, and daily relationships.
The temple was not merely something they attended.
It was something they attempted to live.

The Book of Mormon preserves the beautiful account of Jesus Christ appearing to the people at Bountiful.
The Nemenhah Sacred Records preserve accounts of additional appearances among other gatherings of people in ancient North America.
These visits were not identical to the appearance at Bountiful.
They occurred among different groups and in different places.
The Savior healed the sick, blessed children, taught the people, and invited them to become one in Him.
These accounts enlarge the picture of Christ’s ministry among the scattered branches of Israel.

A Sacred Pattern of Remembrance
The Medicine Wheel is known in many Native traditions, though its meaning and use differ among nations.
Within the Nemenhah Sacred Records, the Medicine Wheel is presented as a sacred pattern that helps people remember the Creator, the directions of life, the need for balance, and the path of personal growth.
The records associate this pattern with Moroni, known among the Nemenhah as Mohrhohnahyah, after the destruction of the Nephite nation.
Many Native peoples still honor sacred circles and Medicine Wheel traditions today.

The Living Power of God
Haymehnay is one of the most beautiful and important words in the Nemenhah records.
It is often compared to the gift and power of the Holy Ghost.
Haymehnay comforts, teaches, warns, strengthens, reveals, and fills the willing heart with love for the Creator and for others.
It cannot be purchased.
It does not belong exclusively to a position, office, or institution.
It is the Creator’s living power working within those who humbly seek Him.
In this presentation, the narration is followed by a song in a gentle female voice, almost like a grandmother offering a prayer over her family.

The Council of Mothers
The Wisdom of Women in the Nation
One of the most distinctive parts of the Nemenhah records is the place given to the wisdom of mothers.
The Council of Mothers did not exist to compete with fathers, elders, or other councils.
It existed because a people could not afford to ignore the gifts of women who understood families, children, suffering, healing, relationships, and the long-term effects of important decisions.
The mothers did not rule through force.
They counseled through wisdom, compassion, experience, and service.
Their voices helped preserve balance within the people.

Moroni — Mohrhohnahyah
The Last Nephite Witness Continues
The Book of Mormon closes with Moroni surviving the destruction of the Nephites and protecting the sacred record entrusted to him by his father.
The Nemenhah Sacred Records preserve another chapter.
They describe Moroni finding refuge among the Nemenhah, where he became known as Mohrhohnahyah.
He taught the people from the failures of the destroyed Nephite nation.
He warned them against pride, contention, greed, and the hunger for power.
He bore witness of Jesus Christ.
The records also associate Moroni with the development or teaching of the Medicine Wheel among the Nemenhah.
Many Latter-day Saint temples have long been crowned by the figure of Moroni.
Many Native peoples still preserve sacred circles and Medicine Wheel traditions.
The Nemenhah records bring those two images together and invite us to look more closely.

Corianton and Isabel
When Rumors Became History
Many readers have been taught that Corianton abandoned his ministry and became involved in serious sin with Isabel.
The Nemenhah Sacred Records preserve a very different account.
They remember Corianton as a faithful missionary who taught Isabel the gospel of Jesus Christ.
He saw beyond her reputation.
He taught her.
He baptized her.
She left her former life and became a faithful follower of the Creator.
Rumors spread among the people and eventually reached Alma the Younger, causing Corianton to be called home and questioned.
The Nemenhah account presents Corianton as a good man who was misunderstood and Isabel as a woman whose life was genuinely transformed.
They later built a family, journeyed northward, and became part of a family line that eventually included Samuel the Lamanite.
It is a story about conversion, gossip, mercy, family, and the danger of allowing rumor to become accepted history.

An Ancient Prophecy of the Latter Days
The Nemenhah records speak repeatedly of people who would arrive from distant lands.
They are called the Foreign Strangers.
Some would bring light.
Some would bring destruction.
Some would seek freedom.
Others would seek wealth and power.
The records also speak of prophets arising among the Foreign Strangers and of sacred truths being restored, misunderstood, scattered, and later brought forward again.
These prophecies appear to connect ancient Nemenhah history with the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, Native descendants, latter-day messengers, and the eventual gathering of a remnant.

The Gathering Begins
The Hope Preserved in the Records
The Nemenhah records look forward to a gathering.
But the gathering is not presented only as people moving toward one physical location.
It begins in the heart.
It begins when families choose peace.
When neighbors practice stewardship.
When people listen to the Peacemaker.
When old divisions begin to heal.
The records describe small communities, villages, councils, families, healers, teachers, mothers, fathers, and ordinary people learning to live differently.
Zion does not suddenly appear as a completed city.
It grows.
One home at a time.
One village at a time.
One willing heart at a time.
This closing presentation gathers together the major themes of the collection and points toward the work still ahead.

The Gathering Begins
Zion Starts in the Heart
"The Kingdom of God cometh not with observation... behold, the kingdom of God is within you." — Luke 17:20–21
One of the most beautiful messages found throughout the Nemenhah Sacred Records is that the Gathering is far more than a movement of people.
It is a movement of hearts.
Many of us grew up thinking primarily about gathering geographically—a place, a city, a promised land.
But before there can ever be a Zion on the earth...
there must first be a Zion within us.
The Nemenhah Sacred Records return to this principle over and over again.
They teach that the Creator is preparing a people.
Not merely gathering names onto membership records.
Not asking people to join another institution.
But inviting every son and daughter of God to become more like the Peacemaker.
That invitation belongs to everyone.
Every nation.
Every tribe.
Every language.
Every culture.
Every sincere seeker of truth.
Zion Is Built One Heart at a Time
The Record repeatedly teaches principles that sound remarkably familiar to anyone who has studied the words of Jesus.
Choose peace instead of contention.
Serve one another.
Honor women and men equally before God.
Strengthen families.
Care for the poor.
Seek personal revelation.
Walk in virtue.
Consecrate what you have for the good of others.
Learn truth wherever God reveals it.
These are not merely commandments.
They are the building blocks of Zion.
Communities become Zion only after hearts become Zion.
The Church of the Firstborn
One of the beautiful connections between the Nemenhah Sacred Records and the Restoration is the doctrine of the Church of the Firstborn.
The scriptures teach that there is a heavenly fellowship made up of those whose hearts truly belong to Christ.
"Ye are come unto mount Sion... and to the general assembly and church of the firstborn." (Hebrews 12:22–23)
Joseph Smith expanded this understanding, teaching that the Church of the Firstborn is not merely an earthly organization but a heavenly order of those who have entered into full fellowship with Jesus Christ.
Doctrine and Covenants speaks of those who become:
"...the church of the Firstborn." (Doctrine and Covenants 76:54)
This is not simply about having one's name on earthly records.
It is about having one's heart written in heaven.
The Nemenhah Sacred Records emphasize this same transformation.
The gathering begins when we willingly submit our hearts to the Creator and begin living the life Christ taught.
The Kingdom of God
Jesus declared:
"Seek ye first the kingdom of God." (Matthew 6:33)
He also taught:
"The kingdom of God is within you." (Luke 17:21)
Those two statements fit beautifully together.
The Kingdom begins inside us before it ever appears around us.
The Nemenhah Sacred Records describe Zion in much the same way.
Not as something governments establish.
Not something armies protect.
But something that grows naturally as ordinary people choose to love, forgive, serve, and follow the voice of the Creator.
Every act of kindness is part of the Gathering.
Every forgiven offense.
Every honest prayer.
Every family strengthened.
Every heart turned toward Christ.
We Are Not Inviting You to Join Us
One question occasionally arises when people first discover the Nemenhah Sacred Records.
"Are you asking me to leave my church?"
No.
That is not the invitation.
The invitation is exactly the one Moroni gave concerning the Book of Mormon:
Read.
Compare.
Ponder.
Pray.
Ask God.
If these records help you love Jesus Christ more...
serve your family more faithfully...
listen more carefully to the Holy Ghost...
and become more charitable toward others...
then they have fulfilled a sacred purpose.
The Gathering Has Already Begun
Perhaps we sometimes imagine the Gathering as one dramatic future event.
But what if it has already begun?
Every time someone forgives...
Every time someone chooses truth over pride...
Every time a family draws closer together...
Every time someone quietly follows the whisperings of the Spirit...
another stone is placed in Zion.
The Gathering does not begin with crowds.
It begins with one willing heart.
Then another.
Then another.
That has always been the Lord's pattern.
Perhaps...
it still is.
"Come and see."
May these records never replace your walk with Jesus Christ.
May they deepen it.
And may each of us become the kind of people with whom Zion can finally dwell.

I am sharing them because I have found something beautiful in the Nemenhah Sacred Records.
They have helped me look again at the Book of Mormon.
They have helped me think more deeply about the temple.
They have helped me better understand stewardship, councils, revelation, family, healing, Zion, and the everyday walk with Jesus Christ.
Listen with an open heart.
Study carefully.
Pray sincerely.
And follow the Peacemaker wherever He leads you.
