🪶 A Dear Friend Sent Me This

A Different Restoration Voice… Finding the Nemenhah

A dear friend reached out to me recently.

He was not raised LDS.

After Joseph Smith was killed, his family came through one of the other Restoration branches that broke away afterward. So he grew up believing in the Book of Mormon… but outside the mainstream LDS Church.

And honestly…

that made his thoughts even more interesting to me.

Because he came at the Nemenhah Records from a completely different direction than most people I talk to.

📜 A Search for Something Real

One thing I’ve noticed over the years is this:

A lot of sincere people from many Restoration backgrounds are still searching.

Not always for a church.

Not always for an organization.

But for something that still feels alive.

Something that still carries the Spirit of Christ.

Something that helps the scriptures make more sense.

And that is exactly what my friend was trying to explain in his letter.

🕊️ What Stood Out to Him

He said what grabbed him most was not just the history claims.

It was the spirit behind it.

The repeated call to:
• seek the Holy Spirit personally
• live peacefully
• avoid pride and control
• build communities centered on Christ
• honor family and ancestors
• and remember that Zion was always supposed to be a way of living — not just a church title

That touched him deeply.

And honestly…

it touched me too.

🌄 A Different Kind of Record

The introduction he sent talks about a people trying to live in harmony with God, nature, and one another for generations.

It describes:
• councils instead of power structures
• mothers helping guide leadership choices
• stewardship of the land
• spiritual gifts
• prayer
• healing
• prophecy
• and direct guidance through the Holy Spirit

Now listen…

I know some people will immediately argue about authenticity.

And that’s okay.

People should study carefully.

But one thing my friend said really stood out to me:

“The deeper invitation is to ask God honestly.”

That feels important to me.

Because at the end of the day…

none of us are saved by winning arguments.

We are saved by coming to Christ.

🔥 The Part That Hit Me Hard

One part of his letter especially stayed with me.

He talked about how many people after Joseph Smith spent generations trying to preserve fragments of restoration truth.

That hit me.

Because whether someone is LDS…
RLDS…
Temple Lot…
Independent…
or something else entirely…

there are sincere people everywhere trying to hold onto light.

Trying to preserve what they believe came from God.

Trying to keep the fire alive.

And honestly…

I respect that.

🌱 My Own Feelings

The older I get, the less interested I am in fighting people.

I’m more interested in asking:

Does something help people come closer to Jesus?

Does it soften hearts?

Does it increase love?

Does it bring humility?

Does it help people seek the Holy Spirit for themselves?

That matters to me more now than trying to win religious debates.

🪶 Maybe That’s the Invitation

Maybe the invitation here is not:

“Believe everything immediately.”

Maybe the invitation is simply:

Read carefully.
Pray honestly.
Ask God yourself.
Hold onto what brings light.
Leave behind what brings darkness.

That’s a pretty good path no matter where a person comes from.

And to my friend…

Thank you for sharing your story.

Thank you for preserving what mattered to your heart.

And thank you for reminding me that sincere seekers of Christ are found in more places than we sometimes realize.
