Lesson 11 When the Land Began to Suffer What Creation Reveals About the Human Heart
๐ฟ Journey Through the Nemenhah Sacred Records
Lesson 11
When the Land Began to Suffer
What Creation Reveals About the Human Heart
๐ Let's Read the Record Together
This week, continue reading The Book of Hahgmehni.
As you read, notice something that is easy to miss.
Hahgmehni is not only describing what happened to the people.
He's also describing what happened to the forests...
the rivers...
and the land itself.
Ask yourself:
Why does Hahgmehni spend so much time talking about the land?
๐ฟ What Happened?
As I read this part of Hahgmehni, something surprised me.
The Record doesn't simply say the Nayfihah became prideful.
It describes what happened afterward.
The forests were cut down.
The mountains were stripped.
The rivers changed.
The beauty of the land slowly disappeared.
At first I wondered,
"Why is Hahgmehni talking so much about trees?"
Then it hit me.
He isn't writing about trees.
He's writing about hearts.
When people stopped honoring the Peacemaker...
they also stopped honoring His Creation.
The land reflected the condition of the people.
๐ฟ Did You Notice?
This may be one of the most beautiful teachings in Hahgmehni.
The Record never separates spiritual life from everyday life.
How people treated each other mattered.
How they treated the land mattered.
How they used the gifts God had given them mattered.
Everything was connected.
The Peacemaker wasn't simply teaching people how to worship.
He was teaching them how to live.
๐ฟ Walking with the Peacemaker
I couldn't help thinking about our own world.
It's easy to blame governments...
businesses...
or other people.
But Hahgmehni quietly brings the question back to us.
How do I treat what God has entrusted to me?
My home.
My family.
My land.
My time.
My body.
My opportunities.
Stewardship begins long before it becomes a national issue.
It begins with one grateful heart.
๐ฟ Talking Feather's Porch
One reason this lesson touched me is because I've always loved being outdoors.
Whether I'm standing on the ranch in Utah...
walking a quiet trail...
or simply watching the sunrise...
I've often felt closest to the Lord in His Creation.
Reading Hahgmehni reminded me that Creation isn't just scenery.
It's a gift.
When we receive a gift with gratitude...
we care for it.
Maybe that's why Hahgmehni spends time talking about the land.
He's reminding us that everything we have...
belongs first to the Creator.
๐ฟ A Thought for This Week
The next time you step outside...
pause for just a moment.
Look around.
Then quietly ask yourself...
Am I treating God's gifts with the same love He used in giving them?
๐ Until Next Time...
Next lesson...
Hahgmehni begins showing us how a faithful people responded by building not only homes...
but places where they could worship, heal, and draw closer to the Peacemaker.
Keep listening.
And keep walking the Peacemaker's Path.
