Walk It Out Saturday Common Sense 6 Put Feet Under What the Lord Gives You
Walk It Out
Put Feet Under What the Lord Gives You
Yesterday morning, I prayed.
When I finished, I did not immediately get up and move on with my day. I sat quietly and listened.
There was no pressure. No fighting inside me. Just peace.
I asked the Lord what direction I should go. Then a simple thought settled into my heart: make a video about why I love the Nemenhah Sacred Records.
So I did.
That is what I mean by walking it out.
Keep It Simple
Pray. Listen. Discern. Act. Watch the fruit.
Latter-day Saints already know this pattern.
We pray for guidance. We listen for the Holy Ghost. We discern whether the impression is good. Then we act in faith and watch what grows from it.
We can study and pray all day long, but sooner or later we have to put feet under what the Lord gives us.
If someone comes to your mind, call them.
If you need to apologize, apologize.
If someone is hungry, feed them.
If you are prompted to encourage somebody, encourage them.
If the Lord gives you something worth sharing, share it with love.
That is walking it out.
Do Not Force It
Revelation is not something we squeeze out of Heaven.
We do not have to work ourselves into a spiritual frenzy. Sometimes guidance comes as words. Sometimes it is a feeling, a memory, or a quiet understanding of the next good thing that needs doing.
The Nemenhah Sacred Records describe this as walking upon the Way. Wellamotkin taught us that, with practice, it begins to come naturally. We turn toward Jesus Christ, quiet the noise, state the intent of our heart, and listen.
The Records also teach that people receive revelation differently. Some receive visions. Others receive what the Records call “pure and simple insight.” The Holy Ghost works through the gifts God has placed within each person.
We do not need to copy somebody else’s experience. We need to learn how the Lord speaks to us.
Take the Next Step
Walking it out does not mean seeing the entire road. It means taking the next faithful step.
Nephi said:
“I will go and do.”
The Lord gives light. We step into that light. Then He gives more.
Your next step may be a telephone call, forgiving an old hurt, helping a neighbor, opening the scriptures, or sitting quietly with someone who is suffering.
It does not have to be big.
It just has to be real.
Watch the Fruit
A peaceful feeling does not make us infallible. We still need discernment.
Ask yourself:
- Does this lead me toward Jesus Christ?
- Does it produce love rather than pride?
- Does it honor another person’s agency?
- Does it lead toward truth, service, forgiveness, or repentance?
- What fruit grows after I act?
Jesus said, “By their fruits ye shall know them.”
If an impression makes us cruel, controlling, puffed up, or eager to condemn everyone else, we should stop and test it again.
But when it quietly leads us toward Christ and helps us do good, we can take the next step and watch what grows.
Sometimes Walking It Out Means Waiting
Sometimes we are angry or afraid. Sometimes we feel that somebody must do something right now.
In those moments, walking it out may mean waiting until peace returns.
The Nemenhah Records teach that thanksgiving helps us become still and find “peace enough to go upon the Way.” That order matters:
Thanksgiving. Stillness. Peace. Then the next step.
Way Walking is not merely a ceremony. It is learning to walk with Jesus Christ in everyday life.
Pray.
Listen.
Discern.
Act.
Watch the fruit.
Do not just sit there admiring the seed.
Plant the blamed thing and see what grows.
That is walking it out.
