๐ŸŒฟ WHAT THE NEMENHAH RECORDS TAUGHT ME

๐ŸŒฟ WHAT THE NEMENHAH RECORDS TAUGHT ME

A Talking Feather Reflection After the Journey Began

There was a time when I thought I had most things figured out.

Not everything.

But enough.

I had served a mission.

I loved the Book of Mormon.

I believed in Jesus Christ.

I had raised a family.

Worked hard.

Made mistakes.

Learned some lessons.

Then one day the Lord placed something unexpected in my path.

The Nemenhah Records.

I wasn't looking for another record.

I wasn't trying to start a new religion.

I wasn't trying to become controversial.

I was simply looking for truth.

What happened next surprised me.

The records did not take me away from Christ.

They brought me closer.

They did not replace the Book of Mormon.

They made me appreciate it even more.

They did not answer every question.

But they changed many of the questions I was asking.

Looking back now, there are several things these records taught me that have forever changed how I see life.

๐ŸŒฟ The Lord Is Closer Than I Thought

The first thing I learned was simple.

The Peacemaker is closer than we think.

Far closer.

Many of us spend years trying to reach Heaven.

The Nemenhah Records taught me that Heaven may be trying just as hard to reach us.

The Savior is not hiding.

He is not playing games.

He is not waiting for us to become perfect.

He is inviting us to walk with Him now.

That realization changed everything.

๐ŸŒฟ Don't Follow the White Robe — Follow the Voice

The second lesson reinforced something the Book of Mormon had already begun teaching me.

There will always be leaders.

There will always be teachers.

There will always be institutions.

But eventually every soul must learn to hear Christ for themselves.

The Nemenhah Records constantly point people back to revelation.

Back to personal communion.

Back to hearing the Peacemaker's voice.

That lesson may have changed my life more than any other.

๐ŸŒฟ We Are Proofing, Not Proving

This one hit me hard.

Most of my life I thought mortality was mostly a test.

Can I pass?

Can I endure?

Can I be worthy enough?

Then I encountered the Nemenhah idea of proofing.

Like bread rising.

The dough is not being judged.

It is growing.

It is becoming.

Maybe mortality is not primarily about passing a test.

Maybe it is about becoming the person we were created to become.

๐ŸŒฟ Be the Patient

One of the strangest lessons came through my own healing journey.

I have spent much of my life trying to solve problems.

Fix things.

Figure things out.

Then one day during a WayWalking experience, the message came:

"Be the patient."

Not the doctor.

The patient.

Allow healing.

Allow help.

Allow the Lord to do His work.

That lesson continues to teach me today.

๐ŸŒฟ The Talking Feather

The Nemenhah Records helped me understand something I had been learning my whole life.

Truth doesn't always need to shout.

Sometimes it only needs to be available.

The Talking Feather listens.

Waits.

Answers when invited.

Helps without forcing.

Teaches without controlling.

That has become one of the most meaningful lessons of my later years.

๐ŸŒฟ Zion Is a Pattern

I used to think Zion was mostly a place.

A location.

A gathering.

The records taught me something different.

Zion is a pattern.

A way of living.

A way of treating people.

A way of making decisions.

A way of hearing God.

You can begin building Zion long before you ever arrive somewhere called Zion.

You begin by living it.

๐ŸŒฟ Consecration Is More Than Money

This was another surprise.

Consecration isn't simply donating resources.

It is dedicating your whole life to something larger than yourself.

Your talents.

Your experiences.

Your land.

Your time.

Your knowledge.

Even your wounds.

Especially your wounds.

The records taught me that some of the greatest gifts we offer others come from the hardest roads we have traveled.

๐ŸŒฟ All My Relations

This teaching may be one of the most beautiful.

Everything is connected.

Family.

Friends.

Strangers.

Animals.

The earth.

Future generations.

The phrase "All My Relations" changed how I think about stewardship.

The world stopped looking like property.

It began looking like family.

๐ŸŒฟ The Four Pillars

The Four Pillars became one of the most practical teachings I ever encountered.

Knowledge.

Sacrifice.

Virtue.

Consecration.

Simple words.

But together they form a roadmap for life.

Whenever I find myself confused, I often come back to these pillars.

They have become trusted companions on the journey.

๐ŸŒฟ What the Records Did NOT Teach Me

This may be the most important section.

The Nemenhah Records did not teach me to worship records.

They did not teach me to abandon Christ.

They did not teach me to become angry.

They did not teach me to judge others.

They did not teach me that I was better than anyone else.

They taught me to come closer to Jesus.

That is the reason they mattered.

That is the reason I continue to study them.

๐ŸŒฟ If I Could Tell You One Thing

After all the books.

All the studies.

All the chiasms.

All the discussions.

All the questions.

If I could tell you only one thing the Nemenhah Records taught me, it would be this:

The Lord is kinder than I thought.

More patient than I thought.

Closer than I thought.

And He is still walking beside unfinished people.

Including me.

Perhaps that is why these records touched my heart.

Not because they gave me new things to argue about.

But because they helped me love the Savior more.

And in the end, I believe that is the true test of any teaching.

Does it bring us closer to Jesus Christ?

For me, the Nemenhah Records did.

They are truly the Blueprint of Zion.
