๐ชถ Medicine Wheel 15 — Proving Worth or Revealing Identity?
๐ชถ Medicine Wheel 15 — Proving Worth or Revealing Identity?
This may be one of the biggest shifts to consider.
Are we here to prove something?
Or to remember something?
That single question can change the entire emotional tone of how we see our relationship with God.
๐ชถ A Simple Reminder
The Medicine Wheel has been guiding us step by step.
Learning to listen.
Learning to trust.
Learning to align.
This question rises naturally as we walk that path.
๐ฟ The Traditional Frame
Many of us were taught something like this:
You came to earth to be tested.
To see if you would obey.
To prove worthy of exaltation.
That framework brings:
Seriousness.
Focus.
Urgency.
But it can also quietly bring pressure.
Because if life is a test…
it can feel like you might fail.
๐️ A Subtle Tension
If worth must be proven…
then it can feel uncertain.
And when worth feels uncertain…
love can begin to feel conditional.
Even if no one says it out loud.
That’s where spiritual anxiety often begins.
๐ What If “Prove” Meant Something More?
Let’s revisit Abraham:
“We will prove them…”
In older language, “prove” often meant:
Refine.
Reveal.
Bring forth what is already there.
Gold is proved by fire—
not to determine if it is gold…
but to reveal it.
What if this life is not about qualifying for worth…
but discovering and expressing what has already been placed within us?
๐พ The Medicine Wheel View
The Wheel begins with a different starting point:
You were worthy to come here.
You already stood in light.
You already chose.
Earth is not just a test to pass.
It is a place to grow.
Not a courtroom—
a workshop.
Not an audition—
a becoming.
๐ฅ Why This Can Feel Uncomfortable
Some may wonder:
“If people believe they are already worthy… what keeps them grounded?”
That’s a fair question.
But look at what actually happens.
When a person feels deeply loved…
they soften.
When a person feels they must earn love…
they strain.
Strain often leads to performance.
Love tends to lead to growth.
๐ Identity vs. Evaluation
In an evaluation-focused mindset, the question becomes:
“How am I doing?”
In a growth-centered mindset, the question becomes:
“Who am I becoming?”
One measures.
The other develops.
And over time, behavior tends to follow identity.
๐️ A Look at Moroni
Think about Moroni.
He witnessed loss, collapse, and destruction.
If life were simply a pass/fail test…
that story would look like failure.
But if life is also about growth and refinement…
then even collapse becomes instruction.
Even loss can deepen understanding.
The story becomes one of learning, not just grading.
๐ The Dust of the Earth
The scriptures say we are “less than the dust of the earth.”
Why?
Because the dust responds perfectly to law.
It listens.
Perhaps part of our journey is learning to listen again—
not through pressure…
but through awareness.
๐ฟ The Quiet Shift
When you stop trying to prove yourself worthy…
something changes.
You begin to relax enough to listen.
When fear loosens…
growth begins to deepen.
And the question gently shifts from:
“Am I good enough?”
to:
“What is He showing me?”
๐ฅ Why This Matters
For many people, this idea can feel new.
But it’s worth asking honestly:
Has fear ever truly changed your heart?
Or has it been love that drew you closer?
The Savior consistently worked through invitation—
not pressure. "Turn to me!"
๐ The Wheel Turning
The Medicine Wheel doesn’t remove purpose.
It reframes it.
Instead of:
“Pass the test…”
it invites:
“Become aware. Grow. Align.”
Not losing identity—
but completing it. Becoming one with Jesus!
๐️ So What Now?
If life is not only about proving worth…
then the path becomes both simpler and deeper:
Listen.
Grow.
Heal.
Relieve suffering.
Respond when prompted.
Trust when guided.
Walk.
We’re getting close to the heart of it now.
Still steady.
Still grounded.
Still walking.

๐ “PROVING” — AS SCRIPTURE USES IT
For those who want to look directly, scripture often shows “proving” as revealing and refining—not condemning.
๐พ The Phrase Itself
Pearl of Great Price — Abraham 3:25
“We will prove them herewith…”
๐ The outcome is not defined as pass or fail
๐ It leaves space for what will be revealed
๐️ God Looks Within
Bible — 1 Samuel 16:7
“The Lord looketh on the heart”
๐ The focus is internal
๐ฅ Refinement Language
Bible — Zechariah 13:9
“I will refine them as silver is refined”
๐ Fire reveals—it doesn’t create identity
๐ฟ Guidance Through the Spirit
Book of Mormon — 2 Nephi 32:5
“The Holy Ghost… will show unto you all things what ye should do” -- the mind of Father, Mother, Son.
๐ Direction comes through relationship
๐ฑ Knowing by the Spirit
Book of Mormon — Moroni 10:5
“By the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know…” --- the power is like the rays of the Son.
๐ Not graded—experienced
๐ TWO DIFFERENT LENSES
| Prove Worth (Common Frame) | Reveal Identity (Scriptural Pattern) |
|---|---|
| Earn worthiness | Discover what you carry |
| Fear of failure | Opportunity for growth |
| External evaluation | Internal unfolding |
| Perform to qualify | Listen to be guided |
| Anxiety-driven | Peace-centered |
๐ฑ THE QUIET SHIFT
Maybe the doctrine hasn’t changed.
Only how we hear it.
๐ Not: “Am I worthy enough to pass?” Not shame!
๐ But: “What is being revealed in me right now?”
๐️ A GENTLE CHECK-IN
When you think about your relationship with God:
Does it feel like pressure?
Or does it feel like invitation?
Because the Savior consistently works one way:
๐ He invites
๐ He teaches
๐ He transforms
๐ชถ FINAL THOUGHT
If this life is a “proving”…
it may not be about proving your worth to Him.
It may be about seeing, for yourself:
๐ What you choose
๐ What you love
๐ And whether you will hear Him again
