🪶 Seeking God Directly — A Scriptural Pattern (With Citations)

Across all records, a consistent doctrine appears:

God reveals truth directly to those who seek Him.

This is not symbolic language.
It is a repeatable pattern.

🧭 Foundational Instruction

📖 Bible

In Epistle of James 1:5:

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

This instruction is:

  • individual
  • direct
  • unconditional

There is no intermediary required.

📖 Book of Mormon — Direct Revelation Pattern

Nephi Receives His Own Witness

First Book of Nephi 2:16:

“And I, Nephi… did cry unto the Lord; and behold he did visit me, and did soften my heart…”

Nephi did not rely on Lehi’s experience.

👉 He sought and received his own.

First Book of Nephi 10:17:

“And I… was desirous also that I might see, and hear, and know of these things… by the power of the Holy Ghost…”

First Book of Nephi 11:1:

“For it came to pass… that I was caught away in the Spirit of the Lord…”

Brother of Jared — Direct Encounter

Book of Ether 3:5–6:

“We know that thou art able to show forth great power…
Behold, O Lord, thou canst do this.”

“And because thou knowest these things ye are redeemed from the fall…”

“And the Lord showed himself unto him…
having this perfect knowledge of God, he could not be kept from within the veil…”

This is not symbolic belief.

Second Book of Nephi 32:5:

“If ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do.”

Third Book of Nephi 14:7:

“Ask, and it shall be given unto you; seek, and ye shall find…”

📖 Nemenhah Records — Direct Seeking of the Peacemaker

The Nemenhah teachings reinforce the same doctrine.

Seek Direct Commission

🌿 On Sincerity and Inherited Belief

There are many sincere people.

  • act in faith
  • follow what they have received

This includes entire generations who inherited religious structures and traditions.

However:

Sincerity does not replace revelation.

Without direct seeking, belief can become:

Scripture repeatedly warns against relying on another’s spiritual experience.

“For behold, thus saith the Lord God: I will give unto the children of men line upon line…”

Each must receive for themselves.

Book of Alma 32:27:

“Even if ye can no more than desire to believe… let this desire work in you…”

Faith must become personal.

“Borrowed light will fail in the day of trial…
