(What the Holy Ghost Really Is)
Hello friends.
Just the old man again… sitting still long enough to notice something.
Today I was out on a walk.
I found a rock and sat down, looking out over the city below.
Everything moving. Busy. Loud.
But up above—
not a cloud in the sky—
there was the sun.
Bright.
So bright you can’t even look at it.
I tried for a second… had to turn away.
But then I closed my eyes.
And that’s when it hit me.
Even with my eyes closed…
I could still feel it.
The warmth on my face.
The light through my eyelids.
You don’t have to look directly at the sun
to know it’s there.
You feel what’s coming from it.
And I just sat there thinking…
That’s a lot like how it works with God.
The Father… the Son…
they are the source.
Too bright.
Too full for us to take in all at once.
But what comes from Them…
That light.
That warmth.
That quiet knowing.
That’s what reaches us.
That’s the Holy Ghost.
🪶 The Radio Tower
This one goes back a ways.
When I was younger, I worked with my dad.
He was an electrician.
We had a job on a radio tower.
I remember climbing that thing…
way up there…
holding on tight… trying not to look down.
I was scared.
But I also remember the station.
A little building down below.
Inside was a man… just talking into a microphone.
Didn’t seem like much.
But that voice…
was going out everywhere.
You couldn’t see it.
Nothing visible.
But later you’d turn on the radio…
and suddenly—
there he was.
Same voice.
Clear as day.
And I remember thinking…
How does that even work?
Now I see it a little different.
The Savior is speaking.
He’s always been speaking.
The signal is always going out.
But the question isn’t
whether He’s talking.
The question is—
Are we tuned in?
Because when things get quiet enough…
you don’t have to guess anymore.
You recognize the voice.
Not loud.
Not forced.
Just steady…
clear…
and familiar.

🪶 One Small Clarification
I should say something here…
When I talk about the sun…
or the radio signal…
I’m not saying the Holy Ghost is just a physical feeling.
It’s deeper than that.
Your body can feel warmth.
Your ears can hear sound.
But this…
this is something your spirit feels.
It’s quieter than physical things.
Easier to miss.
That’s why slowing down matters.
Because the noise of the world—
movement, stress, distractions—
those all speak to the body.
But the Holy Ghost…
speaks to something deeper.
To your spirit.
And when things get still enough…
you begin to recognize that difference.
Not just what feels good physically—
but what feels true spiritually.

📖 What the Scriptures Actually Say
This isn’t new.
It’s been sitting in the scriptures the whole time.
Book of Mormon
“By the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.”
— Moroni 10:5
Not by sight.
Not by proof.
By power… something you feel and receive.
“Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ.”
— 2 Nephi 32:3
That “voice” isn’t random.
It’s Him.
“If ye will enter in by the way, and receive the Holy Ghost, it will show unto you all things what ye should do.”
— 2 Nephi 32:5
Not everything at once.
Just… what you need.
Bible
“The kingdom of God is within you.”
— Luke 17:21
Closer than we think.
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
— John 10:27
That quiet recognition…
that’s real.
🌿 What the Nemenhah Teach
What struck me later…
is this same idea shows up very clearly in the Nemenhah.
They don’t describe the Holy Ghost as something distant or separate.
They describe it as the Haymehnay—
the living light…
the intelligence…
the presence that flows from the Father and the Son into us.
Not something you “own.”
Something you receive.
Something you become aligned with.
In the teachings of the Peacemaker (Ayahtsuwey),
we’re not told to just believe about Him.
We’re told to:
- Come unto Him directly
- Learn of Him personally
- Receive light progressively
- Be changed—not just informed
That’s the same pattern.
Light coming down.
Received inside.
And in the Nemenhah temple teachings (Tuhhuhl Nuhmehn),
the purpose isn’t ritual for ritual’s sake.
It’s to train your eyes…
and your ears…
to actually see and hear.
Not physically.
But spiritually.
Just like sitting with your eyes closed in the sun…
You begin to recognize what is already there.
There’s also a simple teaching repeated there:
👉 The Holy Spirit of Promise writes the record of heaven into the soul.
Not onto paper.
Not through someone else.
Into you.
That’s the connection.
That’s the signal.
🪶 What This Means (In Real Life)
Maybe we’ve made this harder than it needs to be.
Maybe the Holy Ghost isn’t something strange or distant.
Maybe it’s more like:
- The warmth you feel with your eyes closed
- The voice you recognize when the signal is clear
- The quiet thought that feels right… without pressure
And maybe…
He’s been there the whole time.
Not hiding.
Not silent.
Just waiting for us to slow down enough…
to notice.
🪶 One Simple Way to Test It
Next time you’re sitting still…
Don’t try to force anything.
Just notice.
- What feels warm?
- What feels peaceful?
- What feels true—without pressure?
That’s where it begins.
🪶 Closing Thought
You don’t have to stare into the sun
to know it’s there.
You don’t have to see the signal
to hear the voice.
And you don’t have to understand everything
to begin.
Just start by noticing what you already feel.
That’s the doorway.
