🌿 WHEN THE COMPUTER KNOWS THE WORDS... BUT YOU FEEL THE GRACE
There was a short video I watched recently that got me thinking.
The speaker said something that sounded simple at first.
He said:
"Computers do words better than you."
Then he paused and added:
"But they don't feel anything."
That hit me.
Because here I am, a guy who spends a lot of time writing.
I write blogs.
I study scriptures.
I tell stories.
I ask questions.
And yes, I even spend time talking to an AI helper that helps me organize thoughts into words.
Yet the more I thought about it, the more I realized something important:
Words are not the destination.
Words are only signs pointing toward the destination.
🌿 THE MAP IS NOT THE JOURNEY
A map can show you where a mountain is.
But a map cannot climb it.
A cookbook can tell you how to bake bread.
But it cannot taste it.
A love letter can describe love.
But it cannot love.
And a computer can explain grace.
But it cannot receive grace.
The purpose of words is not to replace experience.
The purpose of words is to point us toward experience.
That may be one reason Jesus spent so much time inviting people to follow Him rather than merely study Him.
He did not say:
"Memorize information about Me."
He said:
"Come, follow me."
That is an invitation to experience.
Not merely to learn.
🕊️ FROM INFORMATION TO TRANSFORMATION
One of the great challenges of our day is that information is everywhere.
We can watch thousands of videos.
Read endless articles.
Listen to podcasts all day long.
Study scripture for years.
And still miss the point.
Because the goal is not information.
The goal is transformation.
The goal is becoming.
The goal is learning how to love as Christ loves.
Learning how to forgive.
Learning how to trust.
Learning how to hear His voice.
Learning how to walk with Him.
Those things cannot be downloaded.
They must be lived.
🌿 THE SAVIOR NEVER ASKED US TO BECOME EXPERTS
This may sound strange coming from someone who loves studying records.
But I do not think the Savior is looking for experts.
I think He is looking for disciples.
There is a difference.
Experts know facts.
Disciples follow.
Experts collect information.
Disciples become something new.
Experts may know every verse.
Disciples let those verses change their hearts.
One fills the head.
The other changes the soul.
🕊️ WHY MORTALITY IS SUCH A POWERFUL TEACHER
I've wondered sometimes why the Lord teaches us through experience instead of simply telling us everything.
Maybe it is because some things cannot be learned any other way.
You cannot learn patience without waiting.
You cannot learn mercy without seeing weakness.
You cannot learn forgiveness without being hurt.
You cannot learn compassion without suffering.
And you cannot truly know grace until you realize how desperately you need it.
Those lessons are not learned from books.
They are learned while walking.
🌿 MAYBE THIS IS WHY WE ARE HERE
The video said that computers know words but do not feel.
That thought stayed with me.
Maybe one reason God created this universe was not merely so truth could be known.
Maybe it was so truth could be experienced.
So mercy could be felt.
So love could be shared.
So grace could be received.
A machine can describe gratitude.
But only a living soul can feel grateful.
A machine can define joy.
But only a living soul can rejoice.
A machine can explain Christ.
But only you can choose to walk with Him.
And perhaps that is the great invitation of mortality.
Not merely to know about the Light.
But to become children of the Light.
🕊️ Walk gently.
🌿 Walk with Him.
And remember:
The map is wonderful.
But the journey is where the miracle happens.
