πͺΆ THE TEMPLE, THE WAY, AND WHAT CHRIST WAS ACTUALLY TEACHING
πͺΆ THE TEMPLE, THE WAY, AND WHAT CHRIST WAS ACTUALLY TEACHING
Alright… now we’re getting into the deeper part of this.
This is where I had to slow way down.
Because for years, I thought I understood the temple. I thought I understood covenants. I thought I understood what Christ was teaching.
But when I started really looking at:
• what the Savior actually teaches in the scriptures
• what is taught in additional sacred records preserved among Native traditions
• and then comparing that to what we do in modern religious settings…
Something didn’t quite line up.
πΏ WHAT CHRIST IS ACTUALLY DOING
When you really listen to the Savior…
He is not setting up a system. He is not building an institution. He is not giving a checklist.
He is doing something much deeper:
π He is inviting you into relationship
π He is inviting you into transformation
π He is inviting you into a living path
And that path is not:
• memorize this
• repeat this
• perform this
The path is:
π come to me
π learn of me
π be changed by me
That’s a big shift.
πͺΆ WHAT THESE NATIVE SACRED RECORDS TEACH
There are records preserved among Native traditions (often referred to as the Nemenhah records and related teachings) that describe something very similar—but in a very experiential way.
They describe:
π learning to see spiritually
π learning to hear spiritually
π being prepared inwardly to enter into God’s presence
And here’s the key:
It’s not a ceremony.
It’s a process.
π It trains your eyes
π It trains your ears
π It prepares your spirit
And eventually…
π the “veil” is not something outside you
π the veil is within you
And it becomes thin as you receive light.
π₯ NOW HERE’S THE HARD PART
When I compare that to the LDS temple…
I have to be honest about what I see.
π️ LDS TEMPLE MODEL (SIMPLIFIED)
The focus is:
• ordinances
• tokens
• signs
• structured covenants
• progression through rooms
• authority tied to priesthood structure
And a lot of it is:
π external performance
You go.
You do.
You repeat.
Now don’t get me wrong…
There is truth in it. There are symbols in it. There are things that point to something real.
But here’s where it shifts:
π it can become system-centered instead of Christ-centered experience
π THE LIVING PATH (AS TAUGHT IN THESE RECORDS)
The focus is:
• direct connection to God
• learning through the Spirit (the Holy Ghost / Haymehnay)
• inner transformation
• preparation to actually enter into God’s presence
π It is experiential, not performative
π§ BIG DIFFERENCE (THIS HELPED ME)
Let me say it simple:
LDS Temple:
π “Do this to represent the path.”
Living Path:
π “Walk the actual path.”
That’s a massive difference.
πΏ WHAT ABOUT “KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS”?
This hit me hard.
Because in most religious settings:
π commandments = fixed rules
But when you really read Christ’s words carefully…
π commandments = what He tells you now
That doesn’t throw away the past…
It brings it alive.
Because now the question becomes:
π Are you actually listening?
πͺΆ TOKENS, SIGNS, AND SYMBOLS
This is where people get stuck.
Because they think:
“These are required.”
But what if they were always meant to be:
π teaching tools
Not the end. Not the power. Not the access.
π The real “token” is recognition
π The real “sign” is transformation
π The real “authority” is His voice in you
π THE SIMPLE TRUTH (THIS GROUNDED ME)
After all of this…
here’s where I landed:
Christ didn’t come to give us a better system.
He came to:
π bring us back into direct connection
Not controlled. Not filtered. Not managed.
π Alive. Personal. Real.
πͺΆ WHERE THIS LEAVES ME
So now when I look at everything:
• temples
• ceremonies
• traditions
• teachings
I don’t throw them away.
But I also don’t cling to them.
I ask one question:
π Does this help me hear Him… right now?
If it does…
it’s useful.
If it replaces Him…
it’s in the way.
πΏ GO DEEPER — WHERE THESE IDEAS COME FROM
If you want to study this for yourself, here’s where these ideas are found:
π BIBLE
Matthew 11:28–30 — Come unto me… learn of me
Luke 17:21 — The kingdom of God is within you
John 14–16 — The Comforter teaches and guides
π BOOK OF MORMON
2 Nephi 32 — The Spirit shows you what to do
3 Nephi 11 — Christ invites direct relationship
3 Nephi 28 — People prepared to remain and minister
π DOCTRINE & COVENANTS
D&C 93:1 — Every soul who forsakes sin shall see His face
D&C 8:2–3 — God speaks to mind and heart
π NATIVE SACRED RECORDS (NEMENHAH AND RELATED TEXTS)
These are records claimed to be preserved among Native peoples that teach:
• the Way (a lived spiritual path)
• the role of the Spirit (Haymehnay) in transformation
• entering into God’s presence while still in the flesh
• the veil being internal, not external
Key sections often referenced include:
• teachings of the Peacemaker (Ohuhgohuh)
• temple teachings (Tuhhuhl Nuhmehn)
πͺΆ FINAL THOUGHT
Across all of these…
there’s a quiet agreement:
God is not trying to stay distant.
He is trying to bring you to Him.
Not through a system.
But through a living relationship.
And that can start…
right where you are.
